I'm not all that surprised that the US lost again. The team just isn't good enough while the opposition has been stronger than ever. Things definately aren't looking good for team US.

When Lithuania played the USA when we actually had our superstar players, you guys just got completely emberassed.......just wait until you play a worthy team like Argentina, Serbia, or Spain...we'll see if you'll be laughing then.

That is NO excuse for usa losing. Our team isn't worht "S**T" if you take a look at their salaries. It's just the rules, the style, the refereeing, and the insane shooting by that Justivicues guy was overwelming.

I just don't like the "pure zone defense" sh!t. The rules are pretty queer too. You're allowed to clog up the lane as long as you want without getting 3 seconds in the key. On top of that you got 3 pointers that should only count for 2 points. But, what are you gonna do.

no 3 seconds in international basketball? Shaq would have a field day. A frontline of Shaq, Duncan, and KG would be unstopable. Put Kobe at the 2 and have like Kidd at the point then you'd have a gold medal team. This USA team has no international experiance and it's showing. They need to have certain periods that allows for some international games and practice.

the US is the ONLY place where they dont play by the FIBA rules so if they want to have their own rules and dont like the FIFA ones then dont compete in tournaments with FIBA rules

Why on earth isnt this Jaskivicevic(?) playing in the NBA?!?! Hes been dominating european basketball for the last years and won this game for Lithuania. Those 10 straight points from him was some of the crayziest **** ive ever seen. I saw him in the european championships last year in Sweden and he was just as great. He totally owned USA's guards and would be one of the best in the NBA, Im sure.
And why didnt the Larry Brown pick any shooters? If Jefferson would have played like he has before this game he would have missed all his shots today, and Marbury cant hit a 3p for his life. The only one who can shoot reasonably well is Carmelo, maybe Iverson. The one thing wich the other is ALOT better is the 3p shooting.

he's not in the NBA because he wouldn't last. They don't allow pure zones in the NBA. THey don't allow moving screens in the NBA. IN the NBA he'd have a guy in his face hounding, grabbing, molesting him all up and down the court. It's not the rules affectin the USA, it's the style of play. Not used to international type. That and they can't hit an outside shot or a free throw. USA lost this game on the FT line

adizlaja, I think you're on to something: that team might have won a gold medal in Athens. Redd is a good underrated shooter and the current US team is missing a couple players like him. But there aren't any in Athens and that's only uncle sam's fault, not Lithuania's...
And talking about Lithuania, if you can't see any valour on this team then you know Carlos about basketball.

Now US gets to play Angola, and we all can see a comfy win for the americans here. Maybe it'll bring back their confidence and shooting, which would make for a more interesting final phase.
Oh, and in case nobody here noticed, the US is in risk of ending on the 4th place - and thus facing probably Spain straigh away!
