considering they cant win a world championship, youd think that theyd try to assemble a stronger team for the olympics.... they dont care about internationals any more tho.... they are too scared of the REAL dream team getting ass raped by the serbs

in any case, i'm dissapointed as are many others that most of the proposed players did not accept the olympic invitations, but there are a number of teams in the olympics which did not send their best players, and it hurts them more then the US because of the sheer depth of great players that U.S. can send.

I'm a little worried about the US team for two reasons. First of all, other than Duncan we don't really have a big man (Okafor doesn't count at all; he came in through the same back door that should have been welded shut after Laettner made the Dream Team); the other reason is that we don't really have an outside shooter, none. Michael Redd should really have been asked to be on this team.

A few minutes ago Germany end they game with USA. It was 80:77 for USA.
Who watched this game? It was nice game, especially 2 ends seconds
2 seconds before end game Nowitzki scored for three on 77:77, and one second later one player of American team scored from American basket It was really nice ! 
But I think, that USA won't win Olympic in Athens... Yesterday or two days laters USA lost with Italy [I didn't see this game]. And today Germany played very nice. Tomorrow it will be USA vs Serbia and Montenegro.

Germany should have won. The only player that matches up with the talent of the US team is Dirk and even with that in mind, USA couldn't break away. USA also couldn't stop Dirk... how pathetic is that when he is the main if not the only threat.

Thats was an incredible ending. We can not play team basketball. You look at our players who are all one on one specialists and can't shoot at all. All they do is try to take it to the hole and when they go zone were screwed. You see these other teams actually practice fundamentals and shooting and you realize that NBA players are the most overrated, overhyped (Lebron James really showed up today) and overpayed players in the world. I just needed to rant. Thanks

This newer generation of American basketball stars aren't motivated, and frankly don't give a shit about international play.
they don't give a **** because they don't need to. they are reckognized as the "best" in their sport because they play in the NBA. thats why you see these european teams scratching and clawing every which way they can. they want reckognition. they are out for blood, and the US team stands in the way.

Is it me or does the U.S. get screwed by the refs ?? I only got to watch the Germany and the two Turkey games, but it seemed like all the referees were biased towards the home country. All the foul calls were in the favor of the home teams and no matter what the U.s. did it was called a Traveling. What the hell is up with that?

not as much different as they are officiated differently. you need to watch european style games before you criticize the refs. i agree, there have been one or two questionable calls, but the style of baskeball played in europe and even in asia is greatly different then that of the NBA.
