Official - Alan Smith joins Newcastle

TOON ARMY

Starting XI
We have a brilliant pool of strikers now. You can guarantee at least two of them will be injured during the course of the season (currently Owen and Ameobi) so at least Smith gives us plenty of depth.

I'm sorry to see him go. He was one of my favourite players.
Oh well, good luck next season guys, hope he has a great year with you.

Help?

No way, Smith scores. At United, he was always used either as a midfielder breaking-up and setting-up plays or as a supportive forward. He was rarely used as a target-man, unlike Rooney or Ruud. He was a good scorer at Leeds because he was their main striker most of the time, apart from that one little Robbie Keane-period. Smith can definietly get goals and his desire is immense.

I can remember the good job he did in his first few months at United leading the line and scoring some goals.

yeah, great player, sorry to see him go, was a favorite.

Dont think he really had a chance too show how good he was at united with injury, playing out of place etc.

Hope he does well at Newcastle, would be good for England, I'd certainly cheer him at his next return to old trafford.

Why is this NOT in the Man U thread? Nobody else really gives a crap where Smith plays. Everytime someone at Man U farts, it has to have a thread in the Soccer Forum. Keep it in the team thread FFS.

This is NOT the Man U forums.(N)

i think that this move was a bit late as he spent (3?)years at Man U and never really made an impact. he was injured and sidelined very most of his time there. however he has shown he is a player capable of scoring goals, look at his record with leeds...

What does it really matter? This part of the soccer forum is pretty much dead due to those crappy team threads.

Maybe somewhat overrated but he is more worthwhile to a squad than waste of space Johnny Obi.
