Shut up, i just came from work all tired and exhausted and i aggrevated my hamstring again yesterday, so i probably won't be able to play soccer for a few days.

What a performance by our boys! Our defense was crap, as I predicted, but somehow we survived. Beltran was having some serious trouble on the right (Brazil's left) side. He's not a good defender and he doesn't have pace. Wallace at least had the pace to stay with the Brazillians. Michael Bradley needs to perform better. Not that he's playing poorly - he's done well enough; but for someone who has senior national team experience, he's not as dominant as you would expect.

My player ratings:

Seitz - 8 (I suppose you could blame him for the goal, but had some great saves)

Wallace - 6 (quite an athlete; a poor man's Marvell Wynne)
Sturgis - 7 (another fine performance)
Sarkodie - 6 (not bad, lack of size is a concern though)
Beltran - 5

Szetela - 5 (quiet)
Bradley - 6
Adu - 8 (provides that spark of creativity that's been badly missing in US soccer)

Rogers - 6
Zizzo - 6
Altidore - 8 (well taken first, opportunistic second)

This truly was the Group of Death, no question. The fact that a team as good as South Korea finished fourth is testament to that.

Josmer Altidore! Freddy Adu! Both need to go overseas to a club with a history of developing talent!

I second that, and the faster the better. They need to start playing in high level football to further develop their abilities as football players.

BtW, I truly enjoyed every minute of the game.

I have a long history of calling for our young stars leaving MLS, so I'm trying to stay a little objective here. I understand the purpose that it serves, and it has helped some pretty good players get up to National Team quality, it's just that there has never been a superstar that emerged from MLS, either from college, or from a Project-40/Generation Adidas contract. Beasley is remarkable for his lack of improvement. I just think that Generation Adidas would be better served if they could place our great young players in good situations overseas. There just isn't an emphasis on youth development in MLS that I see, it's no where near on par with some of the top youth academies in England, Germany, and Spain. Hell, even bring them back to MLS if they can't break into Europe by the time they're 22 (I'm talking about the kids who sign contracts at 16 or 17), but they'll be much better for that experience.
