Off the Ball control with Microsoft Sidewinder

Ive been playing Fifa 2004 Demo non-stop since it came out and i was trying to figure out how to work off the ball control, and i finally have,
what u do is:

1-start off the control by pressing Left trigger
2-press and hold the z button
3-when holding the z button use the direction button to control where the player runs
4-make the pass, still holding the z button

its kinda hard at 1st but u do get the hang of it.

it doesn't work using the controls you said
the problem is that you can't control the player without the ball

you can control where the players runs, to ive done it loads of times, the problem is that u can not control on the ball so u may get tackled quickly
