Why dont you try defending a bit deeper or sticking 5 at the back.. Just like the great game itself i dont think there are many teams in the world who would just attack teams like madrid and leave themselves open for the counter...You might be very good at the game, who knows maybe the best but tatically you sound a little niave my freind...
Yup. I know exactly what MisterM is on about.
Not about the n00bs, I haven’t played online that much. But about the bad defenders.
Many times, I can see what move the computer is going to make from a mile away. So I take my best defender and follow the forward, say Vieri.
Then the CPU OMF plays a chipped through ball. And I'm all calm thinking that my tallest, strongest defender with a defense and balance of 95 has got the sucker covered.
But then, just as the ball is about to land, my defender decides to stop (even though I'm pressing all the right buttons) or turn one way leaving the forward with a chance to first time volley the ball beyond my standing keeper.
And since the so called n00bs must be hitting through passes blindly, it's very likely that one or two get through every now and then with the defender standing still.
Hence, a combination of flaws.
I guess it IS very annoying to give a goal for no fault of yours.
So, for all those shouting pointlessly and telling MisterM to improve his game, well, you fellows sure don’t notice some subtle aspects of this game.
He can place 6 defenders but sometime sooner or later, during the CPU's counter attacking move, he will be left with 2 on 2 situations.
Let the guy vent, instead of writing useless suggestions like "you suck, improve your game".

The game is the same for both players, if people want to pass the ball along the floor and thread a through ball whats the harm in that. This is how I think the game should be played and not the high ball all the time. That includes crosses as well. 
Oh and when I play a through ball I don't play it blind, I try to time it perfect.

Your defenders "stops" most likely beacuse they are getting pushed by Vieri or the forwards you play against. My forwards push to and the defenders gets slowed down maybe even stop completely and look at the ref. Sometimes its freekick, sometimes not.
The way to predict that is to take the deep, not go for the ball where the forward can fight against you about it.
The CPU does that all the time, the chip through balls and I had a hard time with them but now I have turned them to my weapon.
I have found this out when playing humans. The humans that predicts all my through passes are not ready for chipped through balls and vice versa. Theres SOOO many attacking options, AND defending options. They are limited vs the CPU but online the game is free. One good/bad choice of yours can decide a game.
Ofcourse the game can always be improved but this is the best soccer game ever. Often when you aren't good at something you think it's bad. But more often you are bad at it. When you learn, you will love to be able to do it.

that's funyFunny you should mention that.
Few weeks back, that guy Chammas was fighting in the PES Vs FIFA forums screaming that FIFA RULES.
Now he has converted to PES (which is a good thing), but suddenly he seems to know EVERYTHING.
Of all the people, he's telling MisterM that he should go learn the game.
He needs to get a hold of himself.
Oh, and as far as chipped through balls are concerned, you can make whatever reasons you want mate, but that don't change the fact that the defenders just choose to stop dead on their tracks sometimes and there ain't nothing you can do about it.
And that is NOT some smart(_._) "function" put into the game, it's a freaking FLAW that has crept in.
And regarding "defending deep", there's nothing called defending deep when I've been camping outside the opponents goal for 15 minutes and suddenly they get hold of a loose ball and run off.
Anyone who has played football in real life knows you can't always defend deep. Defense HAS to come out to the midfield line to support attacks.
When you say "pull it out" I'm guessing you're meaning an offside trap?? Well, a couple of times during the match, the offside match isn't gonna work and the attacker is free on goal. If I don't want this to happen, I'll choose to NOT use the offside trap, but the defenders still run away from their own goal when the through ball is played, leaving the attacker alone with a free passage on goal.Originally posted by Picture

I couldn't agree more. I can't believe that some of the people here actually defend that easy through ball. I guess they haven't gotten it against themselves in online games.

hahaha a footballer... - more like a noob with a mental age of 10 - anyone who knows anyth abt pes or football can see that the through ball element is ****ed in the game- in pes 3 i cld easily go whole games against my mates without them having a single shot on goal - now some of those crappy mates will alws pose a threat simply by pushing through ball from 40 yeards out and most of the time the attackers will outrun and outsmart the dfenders- obviously happens in real games but not at that rate- good defenders are more often in control than not- defenders in pes 4 just dont check the runs made by attackers- by the time the screen tilts and u can react the attckers r 2 steps ahead...
