*The reason for no NG for PC - Read it will make you laugh*

During an interview with Polygon at E3 last week, Andrew Wilson, executive vice president of EA Sports, listed a few reasons why that's the case. He also said there's a chance for EA to translate Ignite to PC in the future.

EA previously asserted that most existing PCs didn't have the hardware to run the latest and greatest engine, and used that as a justification for not putting the engine in the PC version. Wilson repeated that statement, but with an important qualification.

"Even though there were some PCs on the marketplace that could run that engine, the lion's share of PCs on the marketplace could not," said Wilson, referring to the technology that made it into FIFA 11. "And the majority of the gamer base that was playing the game on PC did not have a PC spec that would work with that."

In essence, said Wilson, the primary audience for the PC version of FIFA — a video game that is played around the world — didn't have PCs that could handle the engine until 2010. With console development, users are guaranteed to be able to play a game as long as they have the console in question. The same isn't true on PC, and according to Wilson, much of the people who were playing FIFA on PC wouldn't have been able to play a game that was on par with the console versions. That, in turn, meant it didn't make sense for EA to expend resources on developing an up-to-date version of the game for PC.

As for the potential of putting Ignite on PC, Wilson said it's possible, but noted that there are some obstacles along the way.

According to Wilson, Ignite in its current form is designed not just around the particular components inside Microsoft's and Sony's next-generation consoles, but also around the specific architecture of those systems — in other words, "how the CPU, GPU and RAM work together in concert in that type of environment." The processors inside the PS4 and Xbox One may resemble x86 PC processors. However, that's not the only consideration for an engine that hasn't been customized for PC but has been built specifically for consoles.

"So could I see the potential for EA Sports Ignite to make it to PC in the future? Yes, I think it's possible, but a couple of things need to happen," said Wilson.

"THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME ADJUSTMENT IN TERMS OF HOW EA SPORTS IGNITE WORKS"

First, the average hardware specifications of PCs — not just PCs in general, but the PCs of those who would buy FIFA on that platform — need to catch up. Secondly, said Wilson, "There needs to be some adjustment in terms of how EA Sports Ignite works to facilitate the open nature of PC architecture, rather than the closed nature of console architecture."

Until the first part happens, it doesn't make business sense for EA to invest in the second part. The first FIFA game on current-generation consoles was FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup, which launched alongside the Xbox 360 in November 2005. The first FIFA game for which the PC version matched its console brethren was FIFA 11, which launched almost five full years later.

EA very confident they sales will skyrocket on Nexgent Toy platform exceeding the PC. But instead, I'm sure that the sales of FIFA 14 will go down due blunders they did moreover EA got heavy rival on this year from PES14.

It's simple economics when PC sales make up only 1-2% of FIFA's total game sales. I don't blame them for that at all. What I do blame them for is putting almost zero effort into the current-gen game the past few years, including what looks to be almost zero effort AGAIN into current-gen FIFA 14.

Yeah it's probably because PES offers a more customizable and better mod enabled game and usually people buy PC games for modifying then playing them.

That PC press release I can sum up here:

"We know more kids and mum and dads can afford a console in the bedroom, and that mum and dad wont pay out for a PC, so for now our target age market doesn't justify the sales."

Although it has nothing to do with the fact that they can release it and also that people were posting in places consoles "a generation ahead" of PC bollocks.

What I do blame them for is putting almost zero effort into the current-gen game the past few years, including what looks to be almost zero effort AGAIN into current-gen FIFA 14.

Thats it in a nutshell. I have had 12/13 and seen a release year process and coming into the 3rd year I dont see anything different, apart from the foot planting etc making the turning look "a bit different" speed and everything else from menu's for team editing/scoreboards and the speed play is the same. Plus already knowing you will need to mod it to "tame" it yet again and stay off-line for enjoyment only goes so far.

Why cant EA for example pay some money on 'Presentation packs', like they did for ESPN in 13, but have a few licensed for scoreboards/pop-ups and 3D Wipes and such, that arent stupidly coded for region only either.

Seems that this Current gen all they seem to do is "mod" it and add "patches" themselves, nothing more than this site does and better in many ways.

because konami and pes know that you must make your customers happy as it brings more business and keeps people loyal to the product.
if they can't give you everything you want they at least give you the opportunity to do it yourself.

ea on the other is money hungry and owns the footy market so they don't care if they lose a few dollars to gain millions and in no way wants you to mod their game, they want it played their way no ifs ands or buts.

this in my opinion is unneeded, if you ask me the key to a simulation is the purpose of the simulation, considering footy is a game you would think game play and artificial intelligence would be top priority.

if they would focus on making the game a true simulation and actually simulating what you see on the television or in arenas/stadiums the game would be the highest grossing game ever sold worldwide and we would both get what we want.

imagine them taking your idea but instead of scoreboards it was game play and artificial intelligence, where the game actually simulates how the game differs in styles across leagues, so when you play a match between man utd and milan the styles clashe and the game become unpredictable and exciting at the same time.

doing the above for players as well would do wonders, funny thing is in the early 2000's they had individual ai files for players.

But presentations would be supplied by third parties and most graphics already done for TV format by them only to import to the game, main thing would be licence cost, nothing would suggest that would take away resources to staff updating AI as that's a given every year anyway (well, sort of).

If that's the case, lets not have career mode, then they can focus everything on the AI .... To say its not needed over AI is like saying dont have cut scenes because it will effect AI progression each year, no logic for that at all. Might as well stop adding celebrations too ... then we can focus the department on AI.

Your actually talking like EA here in what cant be done and not be done ... what we should actually have is BOTH in equal measure. I thought making this game a more simulated football match was a given regardless.

Also its pretty clear that anything remotely to do with EA upping AI will be pushed to Next Gen anyway, they arent goign to make that a priority over CG only anim and movement changes, but AI "decisions" and control I can only see coming through NG with EA as they keep banging away in interviews on less restriction and so on.
