Starting XI
Although I’ve already said what I want in the FIFA 2004 Wishlist, I’ll happily say the same here, to make sure someone from EA see’s it and hopefully gives my ideas some consideration as I REALLY do believe by integrating these ideas into FIFA 2004, the game will do even better and please more football/gaming players’.

*Increase the pitch size, so that there’s more space and time to work the ball around and try out different things, but not simply let you pass anywhere you wish, as this will give the ‘factual idea’ that the A.I defence is simply not clever enough to mark the players.

*I realise that when making A.I it’s not how smart you make it, but how stupid you make it, as CPU controlled teams are going to be perfect, so you have to programme the A.I to make it do mistakes. I think that with the defending, it’d be nice to increase the intelligence and on the higher levels make it so a player really has to spend much more time with the game until they can go breaking the defence.

*The A.I on World Class mode doesn’t really have any possession in FIFA 2003. Some members said this was due to the power bar in the passing now been there. This is NOT what it is. It’s the fact that the A.I from kick off will try and run all the way, STRAIGHT at the opposition, the fact that they seem to always go for the quick goal, unless they’re winning 1-0 in the closing minutes of the game and the fact that I feel they’re just not clever at ALL when it comes to keeping possession. I’ve owned the game longer then 3 months now, but in the first 3 weeks of owning the game, I was on Professional and in about a month, I was on World Class and I WASN’T playing the game all day and all night, it’s the fact that the game is too easy for the smarter players’, which is said really, as I’d like to be given a challenge, as would many members in this forum here would like wise.

*The shooting system doesn’t contain enough ways of getting power and height and not different ways of hitting the ball to get different shots, power, angles, etc. I feel that a player must get the angle right, otherwise certain factors could effect the shot, things like defenders pressurising the players’, maybe a goalkeepers charging at the striker could effect their timing and aim. I feel that the shooting is not difficult at all and doesn’t really show what is possible in reality; it’s only a small taster of what can happen. Really, to get the power on a top corner shot that is seen in FIFA 2003 would take a long time in real life to do and only very good players’ would have the ‘ability’ to do it and not the instinct, so I don’t think it should be every shots a good shot attributed player has should be at 85Mph. Here’s what I feel:

-The power bar should be longer, so that it’s possible to put in slow and fast ground shots and although the fast ground shots have a much better chance of scoring, they’ll be the opposite to the slower ones and be harder to direct, MUCH harder, otherwise all the members here will be complaining about smacking in 90Mph ground shots in every game on World Class!

-It should be much harder to direct the ball into top corners without it going wide or over the cross bar, even with good strikers. The idea I have is that it should be like ‘possibilities’. The better the striker the higher the possibility of scoring a spectacular goal, but I DON’T want to score great looking goals, or even normal goals in every match or so, as this would show AGAIN in about a month, I’d be smacking them in from all over the place, so make the learning curve for the shooting much greater then ever before, but for the younger players’ out there, I don’t feel anything would have to be done as really, anyone can learn eventually, I should just take longer for the younger ones and to be honest, some younger players; out there are really smart, so maybe adding the difficulty to much great heights wouldn’t effect sales at all, as it would give the players’ a feeling that EA care about longevity and would buy the game as they know it’ll last! :)

-Just to cut a lot of words shorts, I’d LOVE to see a shooting system where I find it very hard to beat the keepers on the lowest difficulty level, IMAGINE HOW LONG I AND OTHERS WILL BE PLAYING GIVING PRAISE TO THE GAME! Only bum holes would complain, as they’re the people that are NEVER happy, you know, to easy complain, to hard complain. ;)

*Make it so that players’ can be fouled in more ways then once. Tripping them up by mistiming the conservative tackle would be a start I guess, or shoulder barging to hard, or maybe the sleigh elbow in the face. Maybe even shirt pulling, but that’s also more of graphical upgrades to the shirts, as in ways, I’m guessing you’d have to have them more flexible, like building muscles on player textures so that they move.

*Make it so that the weather changes during play. This would be brilliant to have it sunny the raining, or even visa-versa. Well, maybe not to such an extreme, more like cloudy then raining and then visa-versa. Or even cloudy then it clears up and there’s no chance of rain, you know what I mean right? Well, this way the commentating could be used as such to give a feeling of more atmosphere and realism.

*Make the pitch gets damaged during play, so sliding around on the pitch can cause damage to the turf.

That’s all my best stuff for the gameplay that I got in me’ noggin’ at the moment. I hope you read this EA I’m sure making some changes, just like from FIFA 2002 to 2003 (well, in that case starting all over!) would make the players’ and ME very happy.

Have a nice day,

Nick.
