Skip what the hell are you guys going to do, I've always thought Welker was a bit over rated and didn't show in the big games but I'm trying to figure out who else is available for them to get as an impact player. I'm thinking Jennings or Amendola, It would be interesting if you signed both.

Amendola seems to have become his direct replacement. Seems Welker didn't take kindly to being franchised nor being benched the first few games of the season. He basically signed for what the Pats offered him, not to mention he was offered way more than that last year and he didn't accept it.

Either way, I'm not mad. It was bound to happen, and I think Welker is on the down slope already. He'll be 32 soon, on one reconstructed knee, noticeably slower and ever since he came back from a torn ACL, he's led the league in drops.

If Amendola stays healthy, it's gonna be a great replacement because he's practically a younger, taller, faster and higher ceiling slot receiver compared to Welker. It also helps that he can play on the outside and return punts as well. Only problem is he seems to be injury prone.

Kinda sad to see Welker go, but that's how the Pats operate.

Yeah I agree, never been a fan of Wes, I thinks he's solid but thats all.

I'm gonna miss the one-man-gang :-(

Yeah, he has a huge foundation in the area, wonder how that's going to work out.

On a side note I cant believe Jennings turned down 10 mil a year with the Pack, that's crazy. He will spend half of that in therapy if he ends up with a QB like Weeden or something.

I think short term the Pats might really miss Welker, but after that the team will be better off. That over-reliance on him was basically make or break. It was great during the season, but as the season wore down and the defenses got tougher, he became less and less effective. The pattern in the playoffs was that they put a physical corner on him and he'd be jammed at the line often.

With Amendola, I see the Pats resigning Edelman, which is another similar player. They can alternate snaps and stretch the field more than Welker ever could. That leaves open space for the more physical and sure handed Hernandez, and a huge target in Gronk. All the team needs is a tall, speedy receiver (Hayward Bey would be nice) and the offense will be more dangerous and less predictable than with Welker in.

Word through the grapevine is he's upset of how it was handled, but I doubt he wasn't informed about it. Who knows. Either way it seems it was more about Welker not wanting to re-sign than the Patriots not wanting to sign him. He went for guaranteed money instead of a fixed amount plus incentives, which seems it could have been more. Amendola has more potential now, so if the Pats get him another solid receiver I'm sure he'll be fine.
