Underground sequel! First screen and details below!

Hold on to your hot rods, because in a move which will surprise absolutely no-one, EA has announced a sequel to its all-conquering urban racer, Need For Speed Underground.
In just under five months since release, NFS Underground has rapidly become one of the most popular console racing games ever, shifting over five million copies around the globe.

However, Underground 2 is set to shift the goalposts even further by introducing a new free-roaming city mode which allows you to explore five distinct inner city districts.

Prowling these neighbourhoods will be rival urban racers who'll challenge you to compete in different events and challenges, tip you off on the hottest courses and also show you where to buy the coolest custom upgrades.

EA is also promising new game modes, deep new performance customisation and more than 30 licensed motors. The ability to customise your racer will also be hugely expanded, and EA has stated NFS Underground 2 will feature "a staggering 70 billion possible car combinations for total automotive self-expression." Blimey.

Need for Speed Underground 2 is currently being developed by EA Canada and in a lightning fast turn around, it's promising a release on PC, PS2, Xbox and GameCube this Autumn.

Unfortunately there's only one screen for you to enjoy for now, but it should knock your socks off. Enjoy, urban tuning fans.

I hope this one has cops. Street racing without cops is just baffling.

Hope this game doesn;t get too "midnight club" like ... It should retain all the elements of Underground 1 along with a few new features.

The free roaming mode sounds good but like i said, there should be cops around.

The level designs of NFSU were just terrible, no variation whatsoever. You always ended up racing the same circuit albeit back to front, from left to right or something stupid like that. I want to be able to race in a real big city not some linear course with no freedom whatsoever.

cool................ not so linear in what races we can do i hope with the roaming and the "tip you off on the hottest courses"..... thats all i want from the sequel........ im so getting it (H) :rockman: :rockman: :rockman:

btw...... i finally sat down and finished that 7 lap race last weekend..... and finished the rest of the game in about half an hour later

I hope this next in the series of the NFS Underground games, has some more euro car makers in it like the England cars. Like-

MG
Vauxhall

Frostwolf

Yes, European cars in the street racing circuit. That's like having Mercs and Lexus' in F1.

Underground is all about the import racers. (H)

Of course cops. Midtown has cops and nfsu doesn't for god sake!

Also i agree with philler everytime it's the same map just with some changed objects and 4-5 different roads.

why i thin k it was so bad. it wasn't top i mean it could be better in terms of gameplay most and some graphic improvment. Also i hope they have made the sound very realistic. Nice to hear skyline reaching 300 km. And the free coruse sounds greats u won't be easily bored, plus that with mods maybe they will be new cities designed to explore.

The level design was absolutely terrible, seriously lacked depth and creativity, the gameplay was alright but could have been better, graphics were awesome though.
