Vieira injury worry ahead of Toon clash
Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira is determined to shake off injury worries to lead his side into action for the fourth time in nine days tomorrow at Newcastle.
Vieira sustained a knock to his knee during yesterday's incredible second-half comeback at Highbury as Arsenal recovered from a 2-1 deficit to beat Liverpool 4-2.
However, just like hat-trick hero Thierry Henry, who had been doubtful until passing a late fitness test on a back injury, Vieira is still keen to face Newcastle at St James' Park as well.
He declared: 'I got a knock on my knee and have started to feel my hamstring but, when you win, you feel a lot better and I still want to play tomorrow.
'It's a big game for us and all of us will be ready. A few of us have some knocks but we will battle together to win the trophy.
'It is too big a game to miss. We all want to play as we know it can make the difference for us. We will fight until the end.'
Arsene Wenger insisted he would assess Vieira's fitness later today as he has featured in each of Arsenal's three games in the past week.
'I will need some fresh legs as it's our fourth big game in nine days. Maybe Sylvain Wiltord will play, certainly Jose Reyes will play, while Edu and Gilberto Silva will also start,' he confirmed.
Henry, meanwhile, will be given another late fitness test and Wenger is hopeful, even though the striker admitted 'the games are so tight that it's difficult to know'.
