I really hope Nike doesn't bring the collars back too.
They'd already done so this season, kits such as Valencia home, Arsenal third, Barça away and PSV away are prime examples of Nike kits with collars.

ye, most are useless floppy ones that you can't even pop! what's the point then, eh? puma have got the same type on their latest int'l away kits ... adidas had/have those too ...

EDIT: the chel-c one looks alright tho, in terms of its popablility ...

Away...

I've heard of teams leaving for cities in the same country, but when were Brondby allowed to decamp West Copenhagen for West London?

Judging by the lines on the front, it was a ManU kit once :D

I hope the "simplicity" style will be out of favour when we'll see France in Nike
Too bad they switch, they were a bit "traditional" in wearing Adidas, just my opinion :)

According to the article on the French Football Federation's site, the Nike deal will commence on 1st January 2011. It would be quite strange seeing France wear something other than Adidas, the "tricolore" three stripe trim having been commonplace on French shirts for a very long time.

In other news, Hannover 96 have announced their new kit for 2008/09 will be made by Under Armour, of whom we've seen a number of top players wear their baselayer tops under their shirts.

France has signed on with Nike (source FFF's website). Here is a mockup I found on this website, Minhas Camisas.

Nike have finally managed to land France, and end their long-term relationship with adidas ... well done to them, coz they've been trying for a long time ... obviously the shirt won't look like that -- since that's a 2007 (Man Utd) template, and the deal doesn't kick in till 2011 ...

too right ... the tricolore image fit in perfectly with adidas' three stripes thing ... plus the 1984 kit being replicated for 1998, and both producing cup wins was pretty special ... anyway, that mock-up is too plain, even for any minimalistic design ... I'm sure there will be more of a splash of red (well, at least more than just the trim) ...

watch as they just stick a badge on one of their skin-tight, moisture-wicking undershirts (H) ... a sort of millennium kappa redux ...

It will be even stranger to see Germany wearing Nike if they finally do defect from Addidas to them.

haha, don't think that's going to happen ... never say never, sure, but adidas will do everything to hold on to them ...

That is what i mean in being traditional in the Adidas-France connection

dudes , the contract is starting from 2011 and it's going to be ended in 2018 , so you will see France wearing adidas a few years ...

I'm sure Germany will never wear Nike . I men they won't drop a German technical sponsor for an American one ...we all now how nationalists are they ...

I'm afraid that sucks . I can't imagine a France kit without the traditional 3 stripes . I never imagined that teams like France , Germany or Spain for example will wear nike , but how adidas say "IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING" :D

To be honest , I'm a big adidas fan , and I guess that's a shame for France to swap adidas with nike , especially after adidas designed such great kits for France along the years and especially after the great kits they made for EURO 2008 .

the french rugby kits are made by nike, so its not all too surprising

oh, come on ... france's rugby team flip-flopped between nike and adidas during the 80s ... but the footie team has had a strong relationship going on for decades, and their history together is much more significant ...

but it is a surprise that adidas didn't put up more of a fight to keep them ... wonder if adidas let france go to be able to close in on one of nike's (or some other's) big names ...

I'm pretty sure the French rugby team started wearing Nike kits in the mid-90's after their partnership with Adidas ended, but I do know they used to wear Le Coq Sportif kits in the 80's. However, more worryingly the Nike rugby kits have gone from the traditional tricolore to a concoction of navy blue with royal blue trim, no white or red on it at all. A repeat of this for the football team really would be met with a lot of derision from French fans I would imagine!

It would be really strange seeing the football team wearing Nike because ever since sports brands began displaying logos and marques on football kits in the early 70's, the French have been associated with the tricolore Adidas trim throughout, and that obviously will change in 2011. It'll be interesting to see what Nike actually comes up with.
