I thought they had a different kit for Europe that year as a cashgrab, so they could force their fans to waste more of their hard-earned money. And while we're on the subject of logo obtrusiveness, how the hell does Adidas get away with their stripes on the sleeves, while other companies and their logos (ex. Lotto) do not?

The Kit, ManUtd wore while winning the 1998/1999 Champion League was released back in 1997. It was Re-released after the had won the Final with two stars and the words "UEFA Champions League Winners 1999" embroided onto the chest.

Hmm that’s a good question how do they get away with that ? – probably because lines/stripes are less “recognizable” than the swosh (Nike) the Puma or the Umbro Double Diamond.

The new Italy kit looks like a Training shirt. 8 Puma logos are too much!

I think it's a new trend to put as much logos as possible on the shirt. Look at the Lotto and Kappa (UEFA Cup) shirts.

.... oh my god.
The idea behind the design is great dont get me wrong ... but talk about overusing the Puma symbols. There's 8 for crying out loud! They should write "puma" down the front a few more times, a few more pumas down the sleeves ... maybe even replace "italia" with "puma" on the badge!!
