New 3D Update for Fiffa2000

G'day all, its been a long time since my last patch for Fifa2000 but I've got one here.

I was meant to launch a patch 6 months ago, but my beta testers rejected it. They did not believe it gave the stability demanded of such an important file. So I cut out alot of buggy DirectX 9 optimisers, left some of the stable ones and tweaked the values for DirectX 8.1 and skipped past version 2.8. So here it is,

GALAHs Fifa2000 3D Patch Version 2.9

get it or read about it from...

http://geocities.com/burntbranch/fifa/3d.html

- New DirectX Thrash driver for Fifa2000.
- Offers a small frame rate increase (1-2%) over 2.6
- Modified tripple buffer values for those with +64MB Video cards
- 3 optimised command lines for DirectX 9 (Should be out soon)
- Optimisation for SSE2 (This code only gave only a 3% increase in performance and only when used on Windows Me or Windows XP?)
- Remember it includes the well proven 3dfx thrash driver for all you Voodoo freaks still out there! (Enhance the graphic quality while still running under Glide (3dfx mode). U can choose to use Direct3D with you voodoo if you choose (why?).

Anyway, I will now slowly begin work on a final release version 3 driver. Expect to see it around Feb 2003. Will include full DirectX 9 support and maybe a new 3DSetup version. We'll see.

Hello, anyone?

Before my latest version of GALAHs Fifa2000 3D Patch I would average 5 downloads a week. My latest release brought in a thrilling 10 downloads in 8 days.

Has the interest died in Fifa2000? or are you guys satisfied with my previous versions?

This leeds me to think two things,

1. Make my next version an awsome release with support for Fifa2000 and Fifa 2001 with greater directX support and acceleration. Other options:
- remove 3dfx support (ie smaller download)
- further enhance 3dfx (ie larger download)
- leave but tweak 3dfx (ie same size download)
- more support for faster graphic cards
- less support for slower systems
- more support for slower systems
- paint it pink!

2. Do nothing and walk away from Fifa2000. Its been swell but it must end sometime.

Whats your thoughts, or does nobody care anymore?

Well i dont think you should walk away from FIFA 2000 it is a great game that is more fun to play then the later versions of FIFA, i myself havent downloaded your FIFA 2000 3D Patch but that is only because at the moment my CD Drive is broken :( so i cant play the game yet but when my CD drive is sorted out i will download your 3D Patch and i am sure lots of people still play FIFA 2000 maybe they just dont feel the need to download your patch thats all but im sure the game still has a lot fans :)

Keep the old FIFAs Alive :)

unless you made a typo then 8 downloads in 10 days is not bad, especially as you average 5 in 7 days, that means that after the 7 days you have got 1 download a day.

Unfortunately the interest in fifa 2000 is a lot lower than that for fifa99 and 98. Alhtough I like many others do still haghly rate fifa 2000. I have not yet downooaded the patch due to lack of free time.....having over 20 hours per week at university, plus travelling time of 2hrs+ per day.

I would definitely choose option 1, with the older system support. As I find with a lot of people, that if they have higher order systems, they usually buy the latest versions of the games.

Is there any chance that you could extend the patch to cover older rather than newer fifa's. This would keep you battling for the same cause and would greatly improve the popularity of the patch. I usually find that people who like fifa2000, prefer fifa98 and 99, as you can tell from fifa99 online still being alive (last I checked) at soccergaming and all 3 at sportgaming
