need help hooking up my surround sound

ok guys heres the problem ... my surround sound works great it runs through my DVD player as i purchased it as a home theatre package .... how ever i cant get the surround sound to run through my tv or my ps2 which is really frustrating ... i am assuming that i need some kind of tuning of the dvd player to get it to work for the ps2 ...... was wondering is anyone has any expertise on the subject and also if anyone knows about any sony device that makes this a whole lot easier !

If you're going optically, you simply connect the optical cable from the sound system to the PS2. If you wanted them both connected at the same time you'll need a digital AV swith box.

If you're connecting it via the standard white/red AV cables you'll only get Stereo sound...or simulated surround sound.
