Okay, which do you guys think are more important to the success of a Soccer game - national or club sides? Does it matter? Do you think that extra content is a nicety and more emphasis should simply be placed on getting the game playing really nicely? How many stadiums, clubs etc. is really ok?

Personally, it does not matter IF we have the ability to create teams and export them to a file, so we can share them with other people on the internet. For example, if I wanted to play as team Canada and they were not in the game, I would be happy if i could simply make my own team Canada, assign them custom made kits, and create the roster etc. OR i would be happy if i could download a "UEFA Challenge custom made team file" which i could import into the game and assign to any league/division.

However, if we did not have this choice, I would have to choose International teams.

Absolutely

How many stadiums, clubs etc. is really ok?

A minimum of 10, not including indoor.

Agree totally with SCTW about the exporting file stuff. It would make it much easier and you can build somekind of UEFA commmunity or something.
On emphisizing on stuff like stadiums and clubs more than the gameplay is a bad thing, just look at FIFA 2001. Sure, I complain about the graphics of ISS on PSX but I still enjoy playing them, rather FIFA 2001 which I love to look at but never play them again.

I would say national teams are more important, there are much more realistic cup & league modes than for international teams.

Cheers,

King Kenny.

I agree with king kenny, international teams comes first, later comes popular league teams, then not so popular ones. Gameplay always come first though.

Sorry Iceboy, I messed up. What I meant to say was the the League comes first for me, the only realistic tournament you can play with the national teams is the World Cup.
Guess we don't agree after all :)

Cheers,

King Kenny.

IMHO it depends pretty much on the year the game is released. If the game is released in the year of a European Cup or World Cup national teams take the lead. But in any other cases Clubs are the choice.

Gameplay should be the top priority... however nobody will play a very realistic soccer game with ASCII graphics, if you get my point ;)

Stadiums... I'd say 15.
clubs. That depend pretty much on one thing... if we could create a team, add badges, etc. there would be no problems with the number. However, a perfect number is about 250

1:> Domestic Leagues are vital for the success or failure of any football game.
2:> Needed inclusions are, domestic cup\s, then onto the Euro cup winners cup, or Eufa Cup, or Champions league tournys, depending on your success or failure in the competiton, aye and it would be nice to have a relegation and promotion system in regard to having a full second division league in there.
3:>International teams are also important in regard to the World Cup and the other Continental Tournys, IE:> South American,African,Asian,European competitons etc etc,.
4:>Stadiums, obviously in any game of this magnitude, i really cant imagine it being at all possible to include every stadium to cater for every players taste, so perhaps a smattering of a few from various geographic locations would have to suffice, with stadiums of high and low profile construction to provide variation.
5:> Gameplay is of parramount importance in any sports game no matter what genre.
6:> A full blown in game editor to allow Stadium, kit, and other cosmetic editing.
7:> Camera views with 'up to the players faces to almost infinity' options.
8:> A positive control system, with instant reaction to any given action, power bars are another control option that are required for the placement and power of all the ball movement\physics, another feature that has never been included in any football game 'to
my knowledge' is the dropped ball option to restart a game after stoppage,'did someone else mention this suggestion'.
9:> I am rabbiting on here and only making suggestions in regard to the Euro domestics and not including the rest of the worlds various competitions, but i think that you will understand the various options that i am pointing to .. Ned

Back to a comment earlier in this topic.

There is a way you could export a custom team(s). Its not strictly a feature, but it should work.

Create your custom team(s) in the editor as normal, and start up a competition, such as a season, and save it.

Somewhere within the UEFA install directory, files will appear called "UEFASAVE#.sav" where # is 1-8 and corresponds (nearly!!) to the slot you saved to on the save screen. You may have to search the files for your team's name to find which one.

That file is completely portable and could be distributed to your friends. Please note, the save file, when loaded will also contain everything else saved within the game, including unlocked tournaments, stadia, hiscores etc. The save will not 'merge' with any existing data, such as someone elses custom teams, although providing they have saved them into another save slot they will be safe.

If someone wishes to use the file, they can easily rename a save to a different number to prevent overwriting another save, eg UEFASAVE4.sav can become UEFASAVE1.sav or UEFASAVE2.sav can become UEFASAVE5.sav..
The game will find em

Sorry for lengthy ramble! Hope its of use to you guys :)

Also, when you quit the game, the game auto saves its status. SO whatever save you loaded last (eg someone else's posted save) will become the default. Again, make sure you save the game with your own data in a competition (such as season) before you copy someone elses data in so you don't loose it

Gameplay definitely has to come first - PLEASE REMOVE THE SPIN MOVE!
Though its not as game wrecking as fifa's its still annoying.
Beating players most of the time is done by change of direction & throwing players the wrong way not grabbing the ball between your legs and hopping :)

Leagues are definitely most important - its what fans are watching week in week out.

There's no way you can please everyone when it comes to adding their favourite league so get a few of the major leagues working with a couple of domestic cups and European cups and let the community sort out their native leagues.

Some sort of Calendar structure would be cool -like in any of the management games- where you can clearly see when your important games are coming up, with fatigue playing a part, so knowing when to rest your players becomes important.

There's heaps of stadiums already - again if you make a game that plays as well as ISS PE2 (I'm not saying this is an easy thing) for the PC then people will carefully create every stadium in their own league.

Your game's plenty pretty enough please concentrate on getting the football right and don't follow EA's lead of same game prettier graphics year in year bloody out.

Gameplay is so important for a ghame, any game that ignores the sport that it is portraying firstly is a failure. Fifa - a failure.. you get where I'm coming from. Many good points have been made prior to this about the gameplay I'm only replying on the subject of national or club teams.

To be quite honest, the thing that really tips the scales for ISS Pro Evo is the gameplay but secondly it has to be the options such as the Master League, it is very innovative and works.

I think that in any decent football game now, there has to be a mix of national teams and important club teams from around the globe so that players of the game have a variety to choose from. I like nothing better than having a wide variety of teams to choose from, it's very important. It is also important, however, that the clubs in the game are incorporated well. By this, I mean that there has to be players to choose from, likenesses, kit likenesses, etc. It goes without saying some of this information but its all important.

Get the gameplay sorted first, a game has to flow like a real football match as a priority! Worry about fancy amounts of teams after you have the gameplay truly up to scratch. You also always know that you are going to face criticism because I am yet to find a game that changes its style of play corresponding to the league that it is meant to be playing as. I think that serious contenders for the best football game ever have to watch games from various continents and then build an engine around the various continents. For example, if you were to play River Plate vs. Leeds united, there are two very contrasting styles of football being played on the park. I think a title for truly the best football game will have to make an English League Match play like an English League Match and a Spanish Match play like a Spanish Match. At the moment, ISS Pro evo only really plays like a South European style, not an English battle like Arsenal vs. Leeds at the weekend. See what I mean? Hope so. :D
