Just as a final note here, just because 14 year old girls like something, doesn't automatically make it bad. Just because you don't like it and everyone you know doesn't like it, doesn't mean it's bad. You can't change people's minds about music, and by bashing music that people like you just make people mad. I'm sorry you think that anything catchy or anything that doesn't transcend musical boundries IN YOUR OPINION is crap, but not everyone thinks that. You say "it's been done before", but I don't recall these songs being done before. So why is it that if Green Day releases "All the Small Things" in 1994 it's great music, but if Blink 182 releases it in 2000 it's crap. Sounds stupid to me.

I appreciate what The Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd, and Led Zepplin did for Rock, but to me it is unlistenable. It's horrendous music in my opinion. I won't argue that Less than Jake or Sum-41 are better "artists" than those guys, because clearly they aren't innovators (by the way, some ****ty 10 minute jam song full of ****ty solos isn't innovative), but I think that they produce better music. If I wanted to be driven insane, I would play Led Zepplin, if I want to be happy, I play Blink or Sum. It's personal opinion, but you know what, in my opinion Blink 182 is better than Led Zepplin.

P.S. You don't actually know anything about music, you're being influenced by a counterculture even more than your classmates are being influenced by popular culture. What qualifies you to tell me what good music is? I've listened to pretty much every style of music, play a few instruments, and have played MANY MANY styles; who the **** are you to tell me that you're some authority and I don't know crap (don't say you never said that, I like stuff from every band you bashed in your first post, and you bashed people who like that music too). Oh, and Pop can be art too, Andy Warhol anyone? Pop Art is HUGE right now.

and you're calling other people ignorant?

****, half the musicians u listen to were dead before you were even born

you'll realise eventually that listening the same 2 albums that are "hardcore" enough for you will eventually get repetitive, and what are you then?

i dunno if you can call people ignorant when you refuse to listen to anything made after the mid90's.

i'll bet you that you actually do like pop, and when noones around you love listening to justin timberlake, britney spears, jessica simpson, n'sync etc, but ur not man enough to admit it

I think everyone needs to just relax a little and not take the 'hardcore punk rock pop' whatever so serious, because it is not that serious at all...

All I see through this thread is:

***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty pop rock punk i am so hardcore and mature, I am not a 14 year old.... what is that? You bloody act like one. Grow up mate, you say that people between 8-15 listen to crap, but you act like you're under 15, what’s worse? The maturity of a person or the music they listen to? I know what I would choose.

People can listen to whatever music they want to listen to, it's up to them, and for you to say "I hate people who listen to this type of music" is just ignorant... what if you love some chick and she listens to yellow card? Oh wait, you hate her because she listens to "***ty none hardcore punk rock pop" where (as Parra Power suggested) half the musicians u listen to were dead before you were even born... ‘Get with the times man”.

If you are going to bag music, don’t bag the music there is now and back it up by saying you listen to bands that are so ‘hardcore’ and ‘so old’, say you listen to ‘less known artists’ (I say less known because they are KNOWN, but are less known than the bands you flame), like taking back Sunday, Coheed and Cambria, Dashboard Confessional, the Used etc.

You are trying to tell people that they are listening to the wrong music despite the fact that this is what they grow up with and generally this is what they like these days?

It's a lot like this concept:

10 of my mates walk into my house and I am sitting watching TV in my boxer shorts. They ask me to put my pants on, but I refuse because I say it is wrong to wear pants, despite the 10 others wearing them.... they should be wearing boxer shorts, don't you think so?

The same goes for 'your' music, you like it, 10 other people listen to and like good charlotte or story of the year, but they are wrong, that music sucks because you don't like it...

HMMMMM.

You know, as well as anyone, that everyone is different. You don't need to post a thread flaming everyone who listens to music that you do not like, there is no need for it, and there is especially no need for this:

***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty***ty pop rock punk.

It is your opinion so express it with a more formal approach, it’s disgusting to tell you the truth.

Age?
15 this July.

Hold the **** on there. I just read this gem.

I believe I was a Nirvana fan before Kurt died and I believe I considered them one of my top few bands back in the day. There were no Nirvana fans back then? No shirts? Just keep talking out of your ass; I had a tour shirt back then. You didn't live through the time, you don't know; I do. I wasn't old by anymeans, but I was tapped in to the grunge/alternative scene.

Sublime is the greatest band of the 90's by the way. There's no point in arguing. Nirvana were prepackaged crap compared to the genius of Brad Nowell.

I dont care what ShiftyPowers just said, my friend said this once, and its probably the truest statement ever made. Its sooooo true, i will never back down from it.

"If you dont like atleast three Led Zeppelin songs, you're a homo"

So ShiftyPowers, find atleast 3 zeppelin songs that you like, or im afraid that you're a homo. its as simple as that.

I honestly dont like Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and all these other "old-school" rock bands, simply because I wasnt around during their primes... some of my friends are always trying to convince me that their legends and should be liked just because of that, but no...

BTW Simon, I'm from Toronto too... how you like Hoobastank? (H)

I could find 3, but I'd have to sit through a LOT of stuff I don't like, and I won't do that.

If he had said Pink Floyd, then I'd be a homo.

Just to be safe:

1) Black Dog
2) Whole Lotta Love
3) Rock and Roll

I like others, but those are the first three that I thought of.

As would I.

Thinking about this topic, I've realized that in the past, I used to try and "like" certain songs and artists, because I felt like I had to. People would chastise me for not liking certain groups or songs. For example, I was always told that I needed to like Pink Floyd, and really "Money" is the only song by them that I actually like, but I used to try and force myself to like other songs by them. Hell, I didn't even know who Nirvana was until well after they became popular, and all my friends thought that I was weird or something. I just didn't listen to that type of music back then. Now I do like a couple of their songs, but I don't rate them very highly on my list of favorite artists. That doesn't make them any more or less talented, I just don't like them. Once I realized that I didn't have to like everything that everyone said I did, that's when I found some of my favorite music, and I now no longer care if other people do or don't like it.

Fool in the Rain (probably wont believe that its led zeppelin, not their usual rock style)
or
Over the Hills and far away

I dont understand how any human being could not like these two songs, honestly.

You can say that its just my opinion. But when it comes to Led Zeppelin, its not about opinions anymore. You can say, Led Zeppelin is just not my style. Ok thats fine, its your loss, but its fine. But if you say Led Zeppelin ******* sucks, then i just feel sorry for you. Its like saying Ice cream ******* sucks. You dont **** with ice cream.
