Hi Everyone,

I have received permission from Hakeem to start my own career thread, with the intention of keeping my career updates tidier.

This way, anyone who wants to see my career from the start won't have to search several pages in the 'Career Mode' thread.

I hope you guys don't mind, but this seems easier to me. Possibly next year there will be a 'Career Forum'.

UPDATES :

Starting the first year in his managerial career, Gian-Luca Marino signed with one of Austria's top club team, Austria Magna. Before any matches, he sold as many of the worst players in the team as possible. With a 3-5-2 formation, the team looked set to win.

After 18 games, Austria Magna is in 1st place with 10 wins, 15 draws, and 3 losses. With only 21 games to go, including cup matches, the title seems to be heading towards Austria Magna's trophy cabinet. But anything is possible...With the Mid-Season Transfer Window nearby, there might be a few more transfers this season, possibly one or two players in to Austria Magna.

After 32 games, Magna is still 1st with 17 wins, 11 draws, and 3 losses. They are also in the Cup Final against SK Rapid Wien.

The end has come, Magna winning the league and cup. Sadly for the team though, Marino has moved on to Palermo.

Before any matches, several players have been sold, and Noveski bought from the Korean League. These are the tranfers for the start of the season. First up is AS Roma and Palermo is still with no confidence.

The match against Roma was an action-packed game that ended 2-2 with goals from Sosa and Cassano...After the 2-2 draw with Roma, Palermo were confident, defeating Sampdoria 3-2 to take 6th spot in the Serie A.

Next, Palermo managed a 2-1 win over Bari. While their winning streak goes one, beating Modena 0-3 away, they have low hopes for the next game opponent, AC Milan.

Palermo played really well, holding AC Milan to a 2-2 draw, with 2 goals from Shevchenko, and 2 from Grosso for Palermo. Palermo is now 5th place, and unbeaten.

Here is a list of players that manager Marino is interested in buying for the Palermo squad:

These transfers should improve the squad, if they are successful in January.

Palermo win yet again, defeating Udinese 1-0 with the only goal from Sosa. But Palermo then faced a tough opponent in Chievo Verona, forcing a 2-2 draw. However, if Palermo win the next match, they will take Inter's spot in 3rd place.

Palermo drew again, 0-0 against Fiorentina. Palermo beat Lazio next, 1-0 but Toni, the scorer, got injured. He will be out for a few weeks.

Palermo advance to the 3rd Round of the Coppa Nazionale, with an agreggate of 4-1 over Catanzaro. However, they face AS Roma in the next round. Their next match is against Juventus in the Serie A.

Palermo have attained their best win yet, 3-2 against Juventus, with a Hat-Trick from 19-yr old Akmal, the left winger. Palermo head up to 4th in the league. The next few matches look like this:

Palermo vs Perugia : 0-0
Empoli vs Palermo : 0-2
Lecce vs Palermo : 0-1

After 13 games, Palermo is 4th chasing AC Milan, Inter Milan and Roma. They next play Roma in the 1st leg of the 3rd Round of the Coppa Nazionale, away from home.

UPDATES :

Roma won the 1st leg 3-1, leaving Palermo with some work to do. Then Palermo defeat Inter Milan 3-4 away to take 3rd spot in the league. But Palermo's cup hopes are gone, as they suffer a bad loss to Roma in the 2ng leg, losing to a total agreggate of 1-6.

Palermo's unbeaten run is still on, as they draw 1-1 to Siena, and they now play last-placed Livorno. But they draw again, dropping to 5th spot. The transfer window has opened:

OUT : Corini, Accardi, Gasbarroni, Raimondi
IN : Rochemback (S. Lisbon - CM), Arzo (Villareal - CAM)

With an updated squad, Palermo is definitely stronger. They now face Brescia.

Palermo have lost their first game this season, 1-0 away to Brescia. However, they are still confident of finishing somewhere good in the table. Then Palermo draw to both Bologna and Parma, 0-0 for both matches. They drop to 6th spot behind Fiorentina.

Palermo got a hard-earned 2-0 win over AS Roma, and Palermo now jump to 4th spot in the Serie A. Palermo then drew 1-1 with Doria. Then, Palermo drew again, this time with Bari.

Many games have now been played, and the season is over. Palermo finished 4th in the Serie A. However, the board said these results did not meet their expectations. Because of this, Marino has decided to move on to Charlton Athletic next season.

When Marino was given control of the team, he made the following transfers with his starting budget of around $40,000,000 :

Charlton's next match was against Boro, and Charlton played consistently, winning 0-2 away with goals from Johansson and Voronin. Then Athletic smashed Palace 3-0 at home, to take them to 2nd in the EPL.

For the game against Leeds, the reserves were put. They did a great job, defeating Leeds 1-3, with a Hat-Trick from Kevin Lisbie, the reserve striker. But now Charlton have to muster some strength as they face Chelsea. Chelsea were a tough team, but rivals Charlton managed a shock 2-1 win over Chelsea. Now they face low-ranking Blackpool in the League Cup.

Suprisingly, Charlton had a tough game but they still beat Blackpool 2-3 away from home. Now they face Newcastle. Charlton have had their best win yet, 3-0 over Newcastle, with a goal from Jeffers then substitute Voronin added 2 to his name this season.

As Jeffers celebrated a Hat-Trick, Athletic beat Southampton 4-1 at home, and Charlton are having a dream season so far, in 1st place with 7 straight wins. Then they beat Wolves 1-0, and finally they lost, 1-0 away to Tottenham.

Charlton have defeated Everton 2-1 to advance to the 4th Round of the League Cup where they face Ipswich Town. Then they beat Villa 3-0 at home with goals from Johansson, Voronin and Murphy. Now they face Bolton. They beat Bolton 0-2 away with goals from Jeffers and Euell, the reserve CAM.

It's been 20 games, and Charlton are in a dream. They're in 1st place with a record of 15-2-3. With the window open, Marino is keen to make some transfers this month:

IN : Boumsong (CB - Rangers), Pander (CDM - Liverpool), Ruiz (ST - LA Galaxy)

With a greatly-improved squad, Charlton will start the 2nd half of the season full of confidence, especially with their 1st place lead over the top teams. They beat Sheffield Utd. 2-1 with goals from new transfers Boumsong and Ruiz. They then beat the Spurs 1-2 away in the English Cup. Now Charlton face Aston Villa in the 2-legged semi-final of the League Cup.

Sadly, Charlton were eliminated from the League Cup, losing 4-3 aggregate to Villa, who face Newcastle in the final.

UPDATES :

Charlton have only 15 games left, and Man Utd are close behind. The rest of their season was poor, losing almost all games and winning just enough to maintain 2nd place to finish. The board were pleased with the results, and have offered an extension.

SEASON 4

Gian-Luca Marino was extremely happy to renew his contract with Charlton, who gladly accepted him at the helm again. Marino is determined to keep the off-season transfers to a minimum. Also, Matt Holland announced his retirement, and the Charlton Scout had replaced him with youth player F. Burgess.

The new season has started. Marino has resisted the urge to make transfers, despite Holland's retirement, as he sees in Burgess a young, talented player. So Charlton will start the season with their well-prepared squad. They look forward to playing in the UCL as well.
