Most War Protesters...

In the 70s, there was a song called 'Give Peace a Chance'... and last year (around August) on CNNNN (Australian send-up of CNN) they had a Pro-War protest for the war on terror (Terrorthon). With a group of hippies singing

"... What we are saying...
is Give WAR a Chance!"

Time to sing it again!

"... What we are saying...
is Give WAR a Chance!"

I never realised that you had to be educated before you were allowed an opinion.Maybe people with a lesser education find it difficult to articulate on a subject but they are still entitled to their views and opinions, even if they struggle to explain why they feel like they do. The people who run this planet are pretty well educated and look at the state we are in.Anyway its obvious her comment was emotive.

For anyone that thinks that war is a necessary evil in the case of Iraq, i.e. that war is undesirable but there exist no alternatives to dealing with Saddam, and that the 'peace' movement is lacking precisely because there is no clear articulation of an alternative to war, then have a look here http://www.guardian.co.uk/g2/0,6957,178327,00.html.

It is a series of different perspectives on what could bedone as an alternative to war. See what you think anyway.

Former UN Weapons inspector Richard Butler said that he knows they have weapons of mass destruction, they had them in 98 and thye were not seen to be disarming since then, so how do they disappear? The didn't.

So you know where they are then?

No there weren't....EVERYONE is admitting that there are no weapons(even the president),there haeven't been any since 1991....everyone is like, well he needed to be out anyway, I agree.....but the fact is our president has us in the biggest mess we've seen since Vietnam....with virtually no post war plans and a war based on falsified documents

Its hard proving it enough for the U.N.?, what do mean...actually finding some weapons...I agree the U.N. is not the best @ enforcing power...but not even NATO was backing us this time...

Actually, a lot of people liked Reagan and Clinton.

Ronald Reagan is despised by most of the world and the left wing democratic party in this country. But there is a reason.. he was damn succesful.

This is the same reason that Clinton is hated by the right wing.. he was also succesful at what he did.. yet a complete failure when it came to protecting this country.

At least we were all having a great time here in America during there terms. Everyone had jobs the economy was going great what more could we want. I know not the greatest, but stupid is the Bush's in my opinion.

You sound like this war protester. At least the economy was good? The economy in the 80's was terrible under Reagan... but he helped bring about what happened in the 90's for Clinton. Clinton's economy was completely fake and built on false accounting and Enron style deals.

That is why we have what we have now.. it has nothing to do with Bush. And historically, our economy right now is damn good, but because it's an election year, you will only hear negative negative negative... remember, the democrats have NO power, and they are hungry for it.

They didn't take the oil then because that particular conflict was 1. sanctioned by the UN as a multi-lateral taskforce and 2. the mandate was to remove Iraqi troops from Kuwait, nothing more. Only days before Iraq invaded Kuwait, members of the first Bush admin had appeared on television asking that Saddam be portrayed more positively in the media :|, something that they of course had to backtrack on soon enough.

This particular conflict is different, in that it is for the most part a uni-lateral invasion of another country, and unlikely to be sanctioned by the UN. The first gulf war was about removing an invading country, this one is about being the actual invader. Big difference.

And I am not surprised that some protestors don't know the intricacies of the current situation given the levels of misinformation that exist. Heck, it would appear that Bush and Howard don't yet they get to lead entire nations.

This post is actually right on. That doesn't change the fact that the whole argument of "war for oil" is so stupid it makes me laugh. "War for Oil" sells alot of t shirts, and is cool to say to your friends, but it's a lame lame argument.

About the protestor being stupid... doesn't surprise me either.. most people just follow the band wagon and repeat the things their friends say like a parrot.

It has nothing to do with Bush or misinformation. Get over the hatred of Bush.

Have you ever heard of the "bubble" you moron? The 90's economy was built on the internet.. tell me smartass, how many internet companies failed? How many internet companies actually posted a profit?

Tell me again, who was in charge of the country when Enron, Global Crossing, Tyco or any of those other companies who cheated their taxes and cooked their books? Was it Bush? Oh wait, no it wasn't, it was Clinton. When did the recession start? Oh right, 6 months before Bush took over as President.

Now kiss my ass.

And where do you get off labeling this "most war protesters"...you gave one ex. Did they go around and take a poll to see how all the other protestoers would answer....no!!!!

Tell me, why is it that most protests are orgainzed by COLLEGE students...

And ok...lets go ask all the war supporters if they have a clue why we are in Iraq....I know "a" war supporte, he sits next to me at work. I asked him what he thought of the war...he told me he didn't know but he supported Geroge Bush cause he is a good Christian......so basically he supports the war

HOLY F*CKING ****.....other Carlos*asses I've spoken to actually believe we are in Iraq because of 9-11...

Can't say for sure, but I'd bet the I.Q. level for the anti-war crowd is (on average) a bit higher than the pro war side.

Its so easy to say "well the pres tells me we need to go to war, I agree with him"

It takes some insight to take a closer look at the information and try to understand why or why we shouldn't be at war.

I agree though...if your at a protest or willing to argue something...you have better thought about it...or you just look stupid...happens here all the time..

See instead of saying "how many internet companies failed? How many internet companies actually posted a profit?", you could tell me how many internet companies failed compared to those that posted profits, and then show me how this is realated to Bill Clinton.... (I didn't say it wasn't, just want you to explain)

What am I, your research assistant? Look it up yourself if you are so interested. I don't expect to convince any of you myrmidons... but you have showed me your lack of economic information in that you don't even know those basic details that I listed before.
