In australia the biggest team is Perth Glory (in terms of memberships and crowds and real supporters)

we also have a huge following of the premier league here and i'd say man u , liverpool and arsenal have huge fan bases and leeds also

Yeah Perth Glory easily the most followed domestic team...

I disagree about the EPL thing a little though.
Of course Man Utd are always up there (usually the people in australia that dont know about soccer go for them), but Id say Leeds have more aussie fans then Liverpool or Arsenal. That said, these 4 teams, along with Newcastle would be the most supported team in the nation quite easily I think.

Australians who have a reputation for barracking for the under dog, dont seem to follow this rule in the EPL...They really seem to cheer for the top 5 (6 including Chelsea) clubs in the EPL..

Although Leeds this year maybe out of that group

Cheers

nah, i wouldnt say that. In every other sport, we cheer for the under dogs usually. You'll find a fair few aussies who dont even cheer for our own national cricket team, because we win too much.

Basically these are the only teams that most aussies have heard of.
They Cheer for Leeds because they have lots of aussies in them
THey cheer for Liverpool, because whilst not being the best, they are in with a chance at the League.
They Cheer for Arsenal, because after years of playing 2nd fiddle to man utd, there time has come.
They cheer for Chelsea because they are a good team, without being a tall poppy.
And they Cheer for Man Utd, because they dont know of any ohter team, OR they are glory hunters ;)

Cheers

In New Zealand, the big EPL teams like Man Utd, Liverpool, and Arsenal have a following, and Newcastle has a few, although I am constantly surprised at the number of West Ham fans I encounter also. I am still looking for another Man City fan thugh :( . Also alot of Inter fans around juding by thre number of jerseys I see.

As for local teams, I guess it can only be the Kingz, considering they are our only one in the NSL (Australia).

I was wondering what teams have the most fans out of your country/league. Benfica is by far the biggest team in Portugal, and Englands is prolly Man U. But what about Italy, Dutch and so on.... Just wondering...

That's probably the only thing that Benfica still has more than Porto. Oh, and trophies, of course. Oh, and arrested presidents. :D

LoL your dreaming bro. You need 13 consecutive Portuguese League titles to tie us and 1 more Champions League title to ties us there too, as for fans you guys will never have more, both Sporting and Benfica have a lot more fans than Porto...

Have a nice day :)

Probably San Jose because all the teenage girls are in love with Landon Donovan.

But Chicago Fire are pretty popular too because we have so many players of different nationalites that we can appeal to differant ethnic groups. We also have like 5 or 6 players who play for the USMNT.

that would probably be true, since there are lots of arsenal supporters jumping on the bandwagon now. it happened to man utd mid 90's. for me i've been a red since i was 6:p when we were sleeping giants.

Elo Ratings
In Indonesia, most teens follow the English clubs (Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal) & Spanish La Liga (Barca & Madrid) increasingly every year, they even double more than Italian League clubs in Serie A.

Last, but not least, some fans follow other big European clubs, Ajax, Bayern Munich, etc.

So, it's pretty "typical" fans in Indonesia.

As for me, well, it's obvious.. hehe, & I mostly
follow Scotland & Ireland NT (H)

You'd be surprised to know just how big a following Portuguese clubs have around the world. If you think about it, Portuguese people have spread out across the planet, there aren't too many countries that don't have at least a small Portuguese community and just about all of them are supporters of Benfica, Sporting, and FC Porto.

For example, there are towns in the U.S. where the vast majority of inhabitants are Portuguese or are of Portuguese descent, like Fall River, Massachusettes....all of them who care about football will likely be supporters of one of those 3 Portuguese clubs...I don't think even Real Madrid has that kind of support outside of Spain.
