I had lunch at the mosque today. I can assure you that no more muslims go crazy over this than christians went crazy of the Life of Brian, or over anti christian jokes/comments, it's just that the current world social climate being what it is it's the same old islamic fundamentalists that get all of the media attention. I would consider becoming Islamic if it wasnt for the lack of alcohol and bacon.

Well, I also feel that if I was to draw Jesus as a pedophile I would simply be hated by many Christians, maybe a few death threats, but nothing too serious. This implies he is getting a ****-load...they should have compared the two reactions he got drawing the Jesus cartoon...

I once saw CNN do a report on the home of a suspect in an immigrant trafficking case - they described his Ford as a "luxury car", his pond as a "swimming pool" and his exersize bike as a "home gymnasium" - never take their hyperbolic claims too seriously. Also, drawing Mohammed as a dog isnt funny, it's just stupidly offensive and unecessary - this guy is getting exactly what he wanted, he's probably fueling these exaggerated claims.

I've been meaning to say this. I say this half as a joke and half seriously.

My plan for the Middle East (I guess it's a joke):

US-Israeli Relations: to the Israelis, being the more sensible and FRIENDLY of the two groups, we will maintain neutrality to Israel but offer a safe-haven to all Israelis and their artifacts given that without US help they may very well be screwed. We will strongly urge the Israelis to deport.

And a victory for the Arab nations and people that want Israel gone?! Indeed, for now. We will give them their precious lands. Israel will be invaded or taken over hopefully. Then we will allow the competing factions to fight over their 'holy land.'

Ultimatum one: if the threat persists and the western world is still harassed by extremists in control in the Middle East the United States and its allies will wage all-out war in the Middle East using nuclear capabilities if necessary. At this point, prior to this occurring, I as a leader will be assassinated by Muslim extremists cells in Brussels.

And now what every American has said, at this point, with our friendly ally out of harms way: we will turn the Middle East into a large parking lot. With the destruction of Jerusalem we will once and for all prove that NO--Christians and Jews, the temple will not be rebuilt...and to all the rest: no, God does not care about you or your ******* land.

The "religious problem" will be solved once and for awhile...there is no second ultimatum.

My famous last speech before being shot twice in the head: "It is our lives and our way against theirs. They want to fight? Then we shall bring the fight to them once and for all."

Joe for president 2036? (H)

I saw a documentary where a muslim was asked what he wanted, and he said that he wanted his arab lands to be pure, and free of jews, christians, etc. When asked what he'd do after that was achieved, he said he wanted to expand their territory and do the same. I've never understood the muslim train of thought.

muslim train of thought?
dont you think thats a bit extreme, after all that one person you have listened doesnt represent the entire muslim community.

And why would you be suprised when you heard he wanted to expand his lands. Thats one of the oldest human instinct, thats how the world has shaped itself.
How do you think entire continent of south america speaks spanish or portuguese?
Its not about being muslim or being christian. Its in our nature to think that way.
Throughout the history of humanity, human beings just couldnt gave up being greedy and always aimed to expand their territory, their cultural influence in foreign lands, etc..

But what about now?
Well , this human instinct with full of greed still exists , but now they are shaped into cooperations and giant industries. They spread around the world, and profit, and their only aim is to expand, expand, expand.

To conclude;
There is no real difference between what that dude had said and what giant cooperations are doing- different methods but the same idea.

Well Capa, we've surpassed the days of expansion. The world has been discovered. Now it should be a matter of cooperation amongst nations and there needs to be an overlying one goal of ONE idealogical mindset. And the mindset that most expands on the progress of humanity and the innate right to life, at least in modern times, appears to be democracy...I don't blame us for thinking our way is the best way. Why? Because for the most part what we live under allows us to live our lives rather peacefully and allows us to do what we choose. Isn't it fair to say we want that opportunity for everyone in the world?

What you have written here is completely true and i do not disagree at all.
And yes we should try to do everything we can so everybody around the world can taste the benefits of democracy.
However, there is difference between wanting everbody to live with democracy, and forcing them to live in democracy.

Lets take Iraq as an example,
Bringing democracy was the whole idea..
But look what happened now?
Was there a civil war in Iraq when Saddam was incharge?
Was there car bombs exploding everyday?
Was Iraq in danger of being in a civil war and divided into 3 ethic regions?

I know what you are going to say,
Saddam was a monster, he killed innocent people.
Yes he was a monster, and yes he did killed innocent people
But you dont have to agree or even like the guy.
You have see the big picture here,
You cant go around the world and tell people what is right or wrong.
Iraqi people was better off with Saddam, if not Saddam with a dictator like him.
Again; you dont have to like it or agree with it.
But you have to learn to get along with it. Because not everybody around the world is same.
Some people likes sweet, some likes sour, but some hates both and just aims for the spice.
Thats how people are.
And isnt that what the true democracy is all about?

ps- i dont want you to focus on Saddam because it was just an example , lets stay focussed on the topic:)

Man, are you in for a surprise. :p

However, I do appreciate the sheer audacity of the idea of moving Israel, stone-by-stone, brick-by-brick, Jew-by-Jew to, let's say Wyoming.

You also said that there needs to be just one ideological mindset around the world.

Isnt that more like Dictatorship?

The Greek philosopher , Pluto once said, "Dictatorship naturally arises out of democracy" and i must say, when i read what you said about just one single mindset, i really agreed with him.

Im not an expert or anything but the ideology you want sounds more like Totalitarianism or Dictatorship

Joe

Starting XI
I read my emphasis on the ONE and figured you'd bring that up.

I think there will also be natural competing ideologies but what is the purpose of all these ideologies? To find one true way of life that works for everyone. A perfect world view that fits for everyone. Right? That's the way I see it.

If it is a system that allows the citizens to speak and make the decisions themselves (in this case world citizens) I don't see how you can even remotely call that a "dictatorship."
