Response time is what you want to look for on a monitor anything below around 20ms response time will be fine for playing games. PES/WE7 for me is the only game that causes any problems as when i put in a pass (and the gameplay moves fast) a slight "blur" effect appears. I'm used to it now but at first it can be slightly annoying. All other games though run very smooth and look no different to how they would on a CRT.
Hope that helps

Yes thanks alot for the tips...im a bit worried about the blur effect u mention especially since PES is the only game i play on cpu...so i guess ill stick to my CRT monitor...i did have a look on a LCD which had a response time of 25 ms...do u reckon that with faster response time the blur effect would disappear??

But thanks anyway for the tip...:rockman: :rockman: :mrpimp:

I think the blur effect will get better with an LCD of response time around 10-19ms however a few months ago there was a thread floating around here with a few people complaining of the blur effect. So it may just be PES3 that affects it and fingers crossed PES4 will be as smooth as baboons bald ass!

WE7i was a bit blurry sometimes on my LCD monitor. Not too bad though. The graphics looked way better than the console ones.

I've got a Dell LCD monitor, no blur problems at all, very clear and crisp.
Anything under 20ms will do rightly.

Just bought a new PC the other week & was also worrying about everything people say are/can go wrong with LCDs (dead pixels, blurring etc.)

Important features to look out for are:

Pixel response time - 20ms and under is essential for gaming, to avoid ghosting.

Native resolution - This is the monitors best resolution. Most 17" monitors are 1280x1024, basically anything under your monitors native resolution is going to have a bit of blur. So if you're really pedantic you'll want a PC that can run PES4 @ 1280x1024.

Contrast ratio - how well colours are displayed, ideally look for 450:1 or higher

Viewing angle - a problem with older monitors where if you're not sitting directly in front of the monitor the screen starts to become unreadable.

Definitely check out **Baddass' Ultimate TFT FAQ and Reviews!** which covers everything you need to know about LCDs and gaming.

Also Toms hardware has some decent monitor reviews where they compare 6 or so monitors at a time.
Ended up getting the Viewsonic in this review myself & PES3 runs sweet at ANY resolution, I think the whole ghosting thing only applies to older LCD technology.
Why does it have to be Dell?

How much for viewsonic monitor??
Benq, Viewsonic, LG and Iiyama are all good quality monitors.

Viewsonic VP 171 is about £320 inc tax, will be cheaper in any other country.

Some LGs can be got for around £250.
Generally you will get what you pay for with LCDs, cheaper monitors will have lower response times.

All depends on how much £££ you've got to burn :)
