Now that I've had a chance to test it out I have to say that I LOVE this mod.
Long story short I had to switch to FIFA this year. I was always a PES player but it wouldn't work on my piece of crap computer. I thought FIFA sucked. It was identical to the last one I tried, FIFA 12 I think. All that matters is running: the fastest team wins and your best strategy for playing against the CPU is to switch players to the nearest defender, try to steal the CPU player with the ball, and score on the counter. There is no room for creativity whatsoever...there was no reward whatsoever for trying to play good quality soccer, and in fact, it only seemed to slow you down. The best way to score was to try to send long balls over the top and take advantage of your speed.
Now that I have gameplayzed my DB (a customized version of the moddingway D
it is a completely different game. The gameplay is way slower rather than the coked out ping pong soccer you get on normal game speed. The AI is much, much better and the CPU is a much tougher opponent (I only play single player, so this is important). The games actually feel like real soccer matches. The CPU's defense is harder to break down but more importantly, it seems that the best way to do it is through playing creatively. It felt like the game demanded quality soccer...it wouldn't let you score otherwise.
The best part though is that playing with lower caliber teams is so much better. The only FIFA I will be playing for a long time is a career mode with Independiente (switched from rest of world to the Argentine league). In regular FIFA, playing in the Argentine division sucks. Playing games with lower level teams in FIFA has generally been really bad. The games are really sloppy, usually goals are the result of a mistake and you can't really do anything with the players. This is especially the case when it comes to their technical ability. When I play with Argentine teams in regular FIFA, the players can't even hold on to the ball. The second they control the ball the opposing defender will steal it from them unless they immediately turn around in the other direction. Dribbling by someone is completely impossible. Not only is this not fun, it is unrealistic. As a whole, the Argentine league has the most skilled players outside of Spain (maybe Brazil too). While Argentine players don't have the athleticism or tactical intelligence that European players typically do, they are more skilled on the ball and Argentine teams usually play very creative soccer. And when I play with Argentine teams in this mod it actually feels like the real thing. They are very technically gifted and able to dribble past the CPU defenders.
I wouldn't play FIFA without this mod and I'd recommend it to anyone. While I can't speak for the other patches (I only tried this one because it's the only one that lets you use a custom D
, I think that gameplayzed FIFA is even better than PES. And that's something I thought I'd never say.
