That's awesome! he's got all the makings of a future MLS cult hero, haha...

Xavier was never a great player, but he's gotta be one of the most experienced players in MLS now (lots of NT experience & he's played for like 12 different clubs in pretty much every major European league).. plus he's entertaining to watch.

EDIT: He should also be able to score dope easily in LA, good move!

What a match on national television today. Totally owned the Fire. Juan Pablo Angel is a great striker. He has adapted so well in the league and in 3 matches has 3 goals and 2 assist. had a couple of goals today and won MoM, he is last weeks MLS player of the week.

Jozie Altidore at 17 years old is a great talent. All he needs is experience and work ethic and he will be one of the best players in the US NT in the years to come. Stammler was huge today to. I used not to like the guy but he was on every ball today. Mathis looks good with that camptain armbrand. Schopp came back from injury and Wolynek did his part.

Overall a great game and well deserved first place. Fans are starting to come to the stadium too but we still are far behind.

I also heard on ESPN that NY might have a new soccer franchise. That would be great but i dunno if it is a smart idea, the Red Bulls are barely making 10 thousands fans a game imagine 2 teams.

I am sure though that the stadium in Harrison NJ will change the face of the sport in the NY/NJ metropolitan area.

Go Red Bulls. :)

I only caught the second half, but man did Chicago look like crap. New York did play well, but Chicago's ineptitude made them look even better.

Man, we need a DP soon. I'm hoping for a midfielder to feed our attack and strengthen the middle, as we sometimes get overrun there. Now that we got Cunningham, we should be more dangerous up front.

It stands for Designated Player.

(B.) DESIGNATED PLAYER
The Designated Player Rule allows the League to sign players (under the League's single entity system) whose salary will fall outside of the team salary budget and whose cost above the salary budget charge will be the financial responsibility of the club for which they play. A Designated Player's salary charge will be capped at $400,000 per annum, but his salary could be higher. Each team initially received one Designated Player slot, and clubs are allowed to trade Designated Player slots. However, no team can have more than two Designated Players. The Designated Player Rule is a three-year initiative that will conclude after the 2009 MLS season when its future will be reviewed.

I think that MLS could be in for a little explosion. They are planning expansion, and these stars could bring the necessary cash to take the league to the next level, or drive it to the grave....
