ML Player Acquisition Strategies

Has anyone successfully acquired a D1 player in the starting line-up to come on board their D2 default ML team? (with all transfer settings left on the default setting, not tweaked to make the COM easier).

Is it possible and, if so, what's the strategy used with regards to offering transfer points and salary? Did you offer 10, 20, 50, 100 percent more than the asking price?

Well I don't think salary points make as much difference. But I think the comp is a sucker for transfer points. So offer some 10-20% more transfer points.

If you are still unable to buy your desired players outright, try some of the players without any clubs. Some of them are REALLY good (like Salas, Doni, Darit, Arce) and most of the Korean/Japanese players.

They will improve your teams quality drastically and later on, you can always go for trade transfers and get a good bargain.

For example, you can buy Salas for 850 salary points I think. By the time you move on to Div 1, he will be worth 1050-1100 points which means his transfer points will have increased quite a lot too. And you can get Shearer, Trezeguet for the same price.

I'm currently experimenting -- so far, tried upwards of 20 percent increases for both transfer and salary asking prices (for D1 starters, that is) and wasn't successful. Didn't surprise me, of course, but interested to see how many dineros it really takes.

I'm going full-on, no-cheating, default acquisition settings -- no re-setting game if my bids fail.

I use default settings for acquisition and i'm playing 4 stars. In my experience, as soon as your team starts to grab in the results, everyone joins if offered a good amount of salary points. I got Buffon and Rivaldo in the off-season, as a newly promoted side. Also, buying good players from teams which are in a bad position (behind you too) ofter works. I bought Wome from Fulham this way, also, got Saha on a free from Fulham.
