I once downloaded a face where the hair was a strange color in game, editing the LUA worked for me.

Not sure if you've done it yet, but what I did was simply going into the LUA folder and finding the players ID and adding this line assignPlayerFace(PLAYERIDHERE) in the line under the shoe assignment.

EDIT: Am by no means an expert, so your problem might be much more complicated.
