Where's the new Messi's Goal thread? That was amazing. He showed with those two touches exactly who he is as a football player. Simply amazing. What phenomenal awareness, to notice the keeper off his line in the tiny instant where he picked up his head toward the goal. I didn't even notice it on the TV screen. And the placement and touch was beautiful.

Thought Riquelme could have driven his penalty instead of doing the slow chip. After Messi's goal that was kind of an asshole thing to do.

Argentina, man for man are monstruos. I feel them winning the final although I am hoping Robinho breaks Peles record and hoists the trophy. I feel he'll have ahuge season for us, this is his warm up.

I hope this is a wake up call for Hugo that Oswaldo Sanchez is now sh!t. He should have put Ochoa instead if he's going to be the goalkeeper of the future. Let him get the experience needed against tough teams like argentina. Bad tactical calls by Hugo. Hope he learns from his mistakes.

nah I wouldnt say all that, about it being even and stuff. Mexico never truly looked dangerous except around the time when Argentina's first goal came. They always broke down from the midfield up and that was it, no threat....Argentina were always incisive, they where the agressor throughtout the match...

Wow...Argentina proved that they're the best national team in the world right now. Their lineup is absolutely amazing.

Isn't it amazing how little success they've had whenever they had all these all-star teams? 1994 they had a fantastic squad in the World Cup (Redondo, Caniggia, Bati, Ruggeri, etc.) I guess it all went down with Maradona's doping case.

1998 they had equally impressive lineup, same thing 2002 and 2006.

They were highly successful when they played under Bilardo's trap defense tactics, very un-South American style. Talent wise those Bilardo's teams were not even near the brilliance and depth they have now.

It's about time they'll win a major tournament, it's long overdue. I just hope they're not going to ruin it with too conservative and careful tacticts (like they did against Germany in the 2006 world cup). I'm not sure about Abbodanzieri's talents as a penalty stopper... could someone enlighten me?
