I decided to make a Metal thread for the fans of Metal out there:rockman:

Why? Well I just saw In Flames(with Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying) in concert last night and they were amazing, god I love scandanavian metal, so I tought about making a thread about metal to see how many fans there are on SG.

What are your favorite bands?

Mine are: In Flames, Opeth, Children of Bodom, and Dimmu Borgir, among others.

God I wish I lived in Sweden or Germany so I could go to those festivals.

Anyone see anybody live lately and were they great?

I've never seen them live, but In Flames' ("December Flower") and Children of Bodom's ("Warheart") are funktastic. I go through periods in which I listen to a certain genre for awhile, and these bands were def. at the top of my list. I can't stand Killswitch E., though. I think they're extremely corny.

Hmmm... I was first introduced to metal by a dude named Antionne. He gave me the Slayer cassette "South of Heaven" and I never looked back.

My early years were dominated by Slayer and Metallica, but of the two I still listen to Slayer on a constant basis.

I then went to death metal... Morbid Angel, Suffocation, Carcass, etc etc. Then I had a hardcore phase, but never stopped listening to metal.

Now I spend my time with Dimmu Borgir, Manowar, In Flames, At the Gates, Dissection, Emperor, and bands along these lines.

Throw in some Paul Oakenfold, Sinatra, and Clash I am good to go.

All those bands are amazing and I love living in LA 'cause I get to see many shows, and up and coming bands at clubs. When I saw Dimmu Borgir they just put on an amazing show, but the best show ever was Slayer with In Flames, back when no one knew who In Flames was.

Now I'm pupmped for next weeks show of Children of Bodom and Iced Earth.

Yeah,I've been listening to In Flames since the Jester Race came out. They have come a long way. I saw them a coupel years back and they rate as the best band I have ever seen live. They will be here on the 21st, but I will be out of town... but that's okay, I don't want to see them a 2nd time and have it be a dissapointment. Their last two cd's haven't been that great.

Nah, not really. There's still Iron Maiden, Blind Guardian, and bands like that around. And they've got a lot of fans (i personally like Iron Maiden, but i'm more of an occasional listener than a hardcore fan).

I'm not trying to sound like a smartass, but how many time's have you listened to In Flames, Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, etc.

BTW, Elder you should go to that In Flames concert if you still can because I tought the same thing that they would only play new stuff, but they didn't and the concert was one of the best live performances I've seen.

It has to be aluminium, you just get so much out of it. Steel is okay but it rusts, brass needs a lot of polishing to keep it's shine and copper always looks rusty even though it isn't, and finger prints get on it easy. Aluminium, however, is the king of metals.

Anything you can do with other metals you can pretty much do with aluminium, but with aluminium everything is lighter. Useful if you want a faster, more economical car or a can of beer... You can carry more beers around because they are lighter... Before aluminium came into use for beer containers your standard was the 5pack, a 6pack would've been too heavy for your average street walking drunk to carry around. When scientists decided to use aluminium as a container for beverages along came the 6 pack, which is just so much more symetrical than 5. You can have 2 rows of 3 for example, or 3 rows of 2, making them easier to carry, and lighter too.

Neither does aluminum rust as easily as other metals. Aluminium produces its own protective oxide coating which makes it very resistant to corrosion. (Y) See, you put beer in an iron container and leave it for a while and you'll have an empty can with a hole in it before long. Aluminium will just hold that beer in for much much longer, and it won't spoil it.

The biggest benefit of aluminium is in the recycling process. You can recycle aluminium and it retains 100% of it's original quality, which means that that can of beer you've taken to the recylcing plant and received 1 shiny new pence for (I almost forgot to mention that it's profitable as waste), will probably contain another can of beer at some point after it's been melted down and reproduced. So that's you 1 pence better of, +1 extra beer without harming the environment. It's one of the most efficient metals to recycle.

The only thing about it is the way you Americans pronounce. It's Al-yoo-min-ee-um, not al-oo-min-um. ;) :p
