Matches you'll never forget as a manager

1) Spanish 2ªB3 (3rd division, group 3).

I was Figueres' manager, and 1 week before our 1st match in the league I scheduled a home match against Villarreal (my main intention was to get money from the tickets because a match against a 1st division side always brings crowd). Can you believe the final score was 2-0?

We played better in the 1st half and scored 1-0. In the second half Villarreal was like all attack, and in a counter attack we scored 2-0. Forlan barely touched the ball the whole game, it looked like Figueres was a 1st division side as well. And Villarreal played with their main starting 11. Unforgetable.

2) Brazilian Série C (3rd division).

I was Iraty's manager, and we were playing away vs São José (SP) (I guess). The winner would take the 1st place all to itself. I set up the team like this:

RB-CB-CB-LB
AM-DM-DM-AM
FW-FW

By the 60th minute, the AM who was playing in the right got a red card. I thought about sacking a FW to put another AM, since it was an away match. But I thought a little and sacked the left AM to put a ST. The team was like this then:

RB-CB-CB-LB
DM-DM
FW-ST-FW

I guess the other team didn't expect us to attack, and we won 0-2. Since I had direct participation on this, I'll never forget this match. It taught me that, when you know your team and believe in your players, you don't need to be afraid and defensevist (dunno if this word exists lol) like some coaches I know in real life.

On FM: 1860 Munchen v Aachen(me)

2-3 through a last minute screamer from Reiner Plassenrich. The promotion race was decided.

On CM: Derby Country v Sheffield United(me)

1-2 through a fantastic 85 minute lob from Steve Kabba. And just like on my Aachen game the promotion race was decided.

by the way on my first game with the new 5.0.5 patch i beat Man Utd 6-0 with liverpool at Old Trafford :( :(

Winning the Italian cup beating Inter with 2-1 in the finals on aggregate with my Fiorentina on CM4. It was my first year in the serie A with them, taking them from serie C2 to serie A

My greatest moment on CM was winning promotion to the Premier League with Rushden and Diamonds (01-02, 4th season). I left the club straight after that promotion, leaving the club to go bankrupt due to future incentives :$

i cant rememer any match (H) I can remember seasons tho. With Avelinio (CM4) doing the double in Serie A (after 7 seasons playing with em tho...) and with Sheff Wed Winnning every single title in europe/england (FM05)

First season Knock Out round i've lost 1-3 in my home and won 1-2 in inter's home. I was so close.

Greece (Under21)vsPortugal(U21)

First match with Greece i had a nice 1st half but i conceded a goal on their 1st shoot.:rolleyes: Missed 2 penalties (idiot attacker with penalty taking 16) and scored at about 87:D
Unfair i deserved to win.

Of course most important match that i will never forget is with Ajax for the 2 round of CL with Chelsea. I ahd already qualifed (all matches wonned in Premiership CL etc). As ussualy kezman and adrianinho started with 2 goals. But then in the 2nd half i conceded 3 goals! It would be my first 3 points lost if I didn't have Gerrard. He scored 2 goals in 82 and 89 and took the match.


You must be the worse manager to lose with my team. I dunno how when i took chelsea they had 200.000 million in their budget:crazyboy:

First season up in Serie A with Ternana. In this season, I only stayed up with a few games left in the season. Meanwhile, in the Italian Cup i had a decent run which - combined with a bit of luck with the draws, led me to an Italian Cup final against league leaders Milan. My home leg was played first, and which I lost 1-0. So whe the second leg comes around at the San Siro, I wasn't expecting much going into it - nor was I expecting much after being pinned to my defensive third for 45 minutes with the score at 0-0. Then somehow - by the three luckiest, flukiest strokes of luck - I hit them on the counter three times and scored three goals. 3-1 aggregate victory, with a second half Mario Frick hattrick to secure the Italian cup.

I can recall two recent matches, both very-very important.
First one with Liverpool,League Cup Semi Final vs ManUtd.First leg away and two early goals give United the lead-I fight hard at least to keep a low score and finally lose 2-0.Well,looks as though I have no chance in the second leg but from an Ellington's goal I take the lead after only seven minutes. What comes next is a tough battle, I throw everyone forward in the last ten minutes, Hyypia heads the ball home six minutes from time and yet again I keep pressing and score in additional time with another header from Carragher. 3-0 and to the Final(where I beat Arsenal 2-1 in extra-time,yet another great match).
Second match with Real Madrid, Champions' League Semi-Final vs Juventus. I take twice the away lead and Juve also brings twice the game in a draw. Second leg home and a match where both teams lose incredible chances to score. In the last two minutes, even Buffon joins the attack in order to score from a corner-kick, the defence clears and Raul gets the ball and scores from the midfield with an incredible strike to the empty goal.I am through to the Final where I get the trophy(3-1 against Inter).
