Marcos - new Arsenal no.1 goalie?

Yeah i heard the Brazilian WC winning goalie has travelled to England(confirmed by Palmeiras) and Wenger is likely to wrap up the signing 4 about 2.5 million pounds. So Marcos will probably end up as the no.1 goalie at the end of the season 4 Arsenal.
Is this Wenger's answer 2 our World cup winning goalie Barhtez?!
btw does Marcos hold some record 4 keeping a clean sheet 4 the longest time?

don't know why anyone would go through the hassle of getting a Brazilian keeper.
Sure he's talented... but not good enough to have toput up with the constant club vs country battle that brzailian players cause.

Marcos showed during the World Cup that he is a good to decent shotstopper, but a few games doesn't really show whether he has the consistency to last for a season.

Richard Wright was widely tipped to replace the veteran Seaman at Arsenal but nothing really ever happened for the England international. Marcos will still have a fight on his hand if he joins Arsenal and wants the no. 1 jersey. Seaman is still, in Wenger's eyes, no. 1 for a long while yet.

Marcos........
he's the luckiest goalie I've seen...
but he got relegated with Palmeiras in Brazilian national championship.. and supporters were angry with him...
not a good sign, if you ask me... Arsenal's keepers' are better than him

So did Zdravkov move to Arsenal or not? I know he wouldn't be a starter but I'm just interested if anyone knows...

Zdravkov hasn't moved to Arsenal, that's for certain. Whether he will is another matter.

Stuart Taylor would have been the natural replacement for Seaman when he retires and Arsenal should only really be looking for a solid reserve goalkeeper until then, with plenty of experience. A bit like van der Gouw for Man Utd in past seasons.

they should have just held on to Fabian Carini while they could....and they had even signed him but it didn't work out due to some personal teams which didn't suit the player.

i would have loved to see him stay at Juve , but since Buffon came over, there was no place for Carini obviously :(

Carini is better than any of the keepers mentioned in this thread..

He deserves first team football at a big club , which he could have got at Arsenal....

What about Rami Shaaban?

He looked quite impressive when he was deputising for DS.

I cant wait for Arsene Wenger to get rid of that stupid pony tailed idiot in goal.

Marcos doesn't want to leave until June, so Stuart Taylor will continue to back up David Seaman. Yes, Shaaban broke his leg on Christmas Eve in a practice collision. He'll be out like 3 more months.

I'm sure Wenger will keep Seaman at Arsenal, he's always targeted by Non-Arsenal supporters because of his age...he's in damn good shape for a 40 year old, and he's #1 at a top filght team.

By June, Rami Shaaban, who has shown he is class, will be back, and give Stuart Taylor some credit, he was thrown in to the deep end vs. Manchester United, and only consided one goal.

What are u guys talking about?:nape:
Marcos is a great goalkeeper, he has done miracles for Brazil at the WC and in my opinion he played as good as Kahn and Rüstü at the World Cup. Haven't u seen Brazil X Belgium, for example?
U can't say he isn't good enough for Arsenal only because he isn't famous in Europe...
And who the hell are Wright and Taylor????:kader:
Do you really think these guys are better than the Brazilian WC winner GK Marcos?
Soon, time's gonna prove I'm right...:mrpimp:

I would say Marcos is a good goalkeeper, and he would be great for Arsenal.

I agree, Barthez is the luckiest GK alive.

Marcos might have played well in a World Cup but it's a well-known fact that World Cup 'stars' doesn't necessarily become great club players. Oleg Salenko was top goalscorer in the World cup 94 but ended up a journeyman.

The most important factor in a goalkeeper's credentials is his consistency, and Marcos cannot prove that until he has played one season in Europe, where goalkeepers are put under the microscope every game.

Wright has left Arsenal so has nothing to do with the Highbury side any more while Taylor is very young and has a great prospect in front of him.

And btw Marcos said today that he could sign for Arsenal as early as the end of this month.
