Manual passes

Hi
I've recently bought an PSXtoUSB adapter and now I'am
using dual shock 1 to play WE7I PC.
The problem is that I was expecting to have ability of
passing the ball in 64 directions using manual sticks but
it seems to me that I still have onle 8 of them (as it was
before). Is is sth wrong with my pad, adapter (whatever) or
is it normal situation?
Btw, do you find these manual passes useful and if so,
when do you use them? Some piesces of advice are welcome.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

The manual pass is done with your right analog stick. Just move the stick in the direction you want to pass and then press at the stick! (yes, you can press that stick down :) ).
The longer you press the stick, the harder the pass is.
I use it only for long deep low passes. You can use it for long deep high passes as well. To do that you should do all the above PLUS pressing and holding L1.
The difficult thing about it is the coordination: You run and steer your player with the left stick and pass it with the right stick. This often makes you mix things up, especially when you did not practice this enough.
I find this so difficult to master that I use it rarely.

So what are the advantages of using the manual pass option? Why use it at all? Maybe i am missing something, is there any difference to a normal X pass?

Yes, lots of difference, because you can make longer through passes and you can place it more precise, although that needs a lot of practice. For instance, if you are on the right edge of your own penalty box and you want to pass it along the wing towards the edge of the other penalty-box, you can do that. You can't with the X, because it doesn't have the speed or the CPU automaticly 'corrects' your pass towards a player who is roughly in that direction. With this pass, the ball really goes into the direction you aim, with the speed you apply with pressing the button.

thanks for reply.
and what about amount of possible passing directions? Is it still only 8 of them?

I tried the manual pass , but gave up! ok use it sometimes. But with my Logitech Rumble Remote Pads I use my left thumb for controlling the player ( left analog stick ) and my right thumb for pressing the buttons, trying to pull off a pass using the right analog stick ( right thumb ) and using one of the other fingers on my right hand to press the button i not that practical. I use it without the right analog stick for long balls up and down the park and across it.

i did try the manual pass button in place of the normal pass (B) it was ok when you wanted to pass the way you were facing up thats all.

I think that a power button on the normal pass would be a good thing, it would be harder to play but once used to it , I think it would be fine...

Question:

How the hell do I do manual pass in WE8 ?

It's written R + R3

Help !! R3 is right analog stick, but what is R ???
I can't complete the challenging training menu yet in this mode.
:(

R could just be aiming the right stick.

R = push right analog stick in some direction (left, right, up, down, whatever)

R3 = push IN the right analog stick to use it like a button (makes a click)

I find playing with it on manual setting you actually get a more realistic game, plus i find you really have to pass the ball around a lot before you create any space for a shot on goal.
Mind you saying that i don't score a lot of goals either using the manual setting, which again i feel is realistic.

You can change the manual pass settings in the button config menu so you don't have to push the button down.

Doesn't anyone read the manual any more? Or are we surrounded by filthy pirates? ?
