Manual Freestyle Moves in Fifa 2004

I think is better when you make manual freestyle moves because in Fifa 2003 i moved the analog stick and most of the time I just gave the ball to the other team. (Moved the ball forward and since the deffender is so close to me, he would just take the ball away from me), also when you moved the analog stick, you had to slow down in order for the player to do the freestyle move and takes so long to do the move that the other team takes the ball away from you very easy.
Therefore EA should make the freestyle moves like in WC98, where you had a conbination of pressing one of the shoulder buttons and one of the 4 buttons (triangle, square, circle, and X), which will make like 8 moves and the advantage of choosing your move is that you will make the move that will help you get a marker out of your way for the specific situation, and not move the analog stick and perform a move that would just give the ball to the other team.
I don't know why EA introduced the Freestyle control for Fifa 2003 if I only passed my marker twice and the rest of the times I tried, which were about 1,000, ended in the other team's player.

In real life a player will not pass the defender every time either...

i kinda got used to the freestyle control and it was kinda easy to do the moves but i only discovered like 5 dif moves and thats about it but it was pretty cool tho and better than anything i seen in fifa games but it took too long to do this and it was kinda annoying

Yea but they will pass more than once in their whole career, the only move i have NOT being tackled doing is the 360 spin, but i dunno how i did it, and that silly, whatever it is, think its spose to be a step over or summin just sucks ( im using PC version so unless its different and he just sucks, which i doubt, i agree with ManUtd10)

Re: Manual Freestyle Moves in Fifa 2004

i've posted this already... but here it goes again...

here is a list of speciall moves and another important aspects for dribling (Ea have alredy read this, so let's cross our fingers to see them in the game)

the list (made by henry):
- cruyff turn
-step overs
-one step over into flick through legs
-dummy
-elastico
-figo step over
-okacha spin
-zidane spin
-reverse step overs ( zidane moves)

other ideas (by myself):
1) i think that some simple dribles should be added on the game, simple things like lobbing the opponent, between the legs drible and some generic dribles already used on fifa2003 (some of them are good).

2) the skillful players should have some better dribles, such as elastico(my favourite one); that one that consists on the player keeping the ball between the feet then pulling it up and tapping it with the back of the foot over the opponent ("lambreta" in portuguese, i don't know the name of it in english either); the double step over that Giggs does so well, and some other nice movements such as the turning (always well done by Zidane), etc.

3) i think the freestyle button on fifa'03 is good, but could much better if the movements dodn't be random, you should choose the drible you want to perform at different situations. ISS3 (by Konami) is very good on this aspect, the game has an action button, that when held and combined with other buttons performs different dribles. i think ea could improve it, like combining not only the pass, lob and long pass buttons, but also the movement buttons, i mean, if you hold the action buton then press the lob button, the player lob the ball over the opponent, but if you hold the action button then press lob + right, some different skill is peformed by the player, eg the "lambreta", and other combos to perform other dribles.

4) the players should have a list with the different dribles that they can perform very well and that they can't perform so well. eg Zidane can do the turn and the step over very well, but he can't do the elastico (at least i've never seen he doing it), but he's skillful, so with training he can implement his dribles and perform more dribles (but without training he can screw up when trying to perform the drible). my idea is to have something like the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater list of movements on fifa (and the hardest dribles should have harder combos).

5) bad players can't do these harder dribles, it all must depend on the player dribling attributes, bad players should have smaller lists of dribles, and very bad players should not even have the dribling list, as i've just wrote before, it depends on his attributes.

just some ideas, maybe they're to complicated to be implemented on fifa2004, but the time to start thinking about fifa2005 is already beggining. so if the focus on fifa2004 is teamplay, 11 players make 1 team, the focus on fifa2005 should be mixing up the very individual skills with the teamplay, cuz 1 good player can beat 1 bad team by himself.

my opinion about footballers...

Ronaldinho: the best freestyler in the world, every move you can imagine, he can perform

Zidane: he can perform a lot of different and nice tricks, and also he can put his team mates wherever he wants with his perfect pass and wide vision

Okocha: another freestyler, the 'show man', and he's got an extraordinary pass too...

somebody cited Denílson above... well, Denílson is another freestyler, but he doesn't have a big number of tricks, and all of them aren't objective at all

im guessing the freestyle control is definitly still in the game then...where u hit the analog and he will perform a 'skill move' ?
