I actually would've preferred a loss against Villa. I think the disadvantage of being unbeaten is that the players start prioritizing staying unbeaten over delivering good performances.

Yeah that is true, the City game was the perfect example....

Honestly we've already dropped too many points to be a legitimate title contender, we might has well just try to stay undefeated as long as possible and make sure we qualify for CL.

lol we were 11 points down at Christmas time sometime back and ended up winning the league by 4 points. Nothing is impossible. Never write United off.

Also, you never know what will happen in the Chelsea game tomorrow.

Sure anything can happen, but I'm not convinced that we have the firepower to win close games...draws will kill you just as easily as losses in the end.

However, I'm very impressed that we have gone as long as we have without losing a game (something like 25 matches now?). Honestly, I don't think there's anything wrong with playing to just avoid loss right now. We're dealing with injuries and lackluster form from many of our important players at the moment...however, if we hit stride late in the season and get on a roll, we will look back to these days and say that we are very happy that were drawing games instead of losing them.

Looking at the schedule, our next 3 league games are Wigan and Blackburn at home and Blackpool away. I think it's imperative that we win all 3 of those games, because after that we're going to have a nightmare 10 days- Valencia in CL, Arsenal at home and Chelsea at the Bridge. Valencia game doesn't really matter, I think we'll draw Arsenal at home and lose to Chelsea.

As for today's game...Evra is starting to worry me...both goals were his fault. He gave up on marking his man on the first and got flat out burned on the second.

But now because of the draw, we risk losing our current second place to Arsenal if they win against Everton tomorrow. Btw, I think that we should focus on going all the way instead of staying unbeaten. Of course that is a great achievement in itself but I think that we could also be looking back and thinking "why didn't we go for it while we still could". Nothing in this world comes easy, you must fight and struggle for what you really want.

Meh, second or third place, what difference does it make when you're only 1/3 of the way through the season.

Especially considering that as the season goes on many teams will not be level on games played so the true positions in the table will not be accurately reflected (like when a team is ahead of us on points but has played 2 more games).

If we continue that unbeaten run in all competitions, I think we'll have a high chance of reaching far in the FA Cup or UCL because these are knockout competitions. I'd be happy if we win the FA Cup this season if we fail to win the EPL or UCL. Last time we won the FA Cup was in 2004.

Too bad the FA Cup has lost its prestige... A decade ago, the FA Cup was regarded as highly as winning the league.

These days remind me of the days when Ronaldo was known as the stepover pony and how he was useless in others eyes, we are clearly in transition once again, just a matter of time before the likes as Obertan (whom had a good cameo today), Macheda, Hernandez and some of the other young players find their feet. It took a while back then, but the patience surely paid off eventually......quite impressive considering our early injury crisis that we are still tough to beat, Obertan, Bebe etc have done well to fill the void.....

Caught a viral flu along with several other players. I'm surprised he's not back yet though.

Btw Smalling has been called up by Capello. Congrats to him. 2 years ago he was in the English 7th tier. Same level as FC United of Manchester.
