He squanders a lot of chances, so he's still a few ways off, but I'm definitely hoping he can gain valuable experience training/playing for Manchester United.

Well, I can guarantee you there will be an outbreak of injuries, at least 50% of our team is guaranteed to get injured every season.

In terms of our strikers, both Rooney and Owen will get injured at some point next season so I'm sure Chicharito will get some chances to shine.

*EDIT* That's assuming that Malcolm the Deceiver doesn't make SAF sell Rooney to Madrid.

Reallllllly don't see that happening.

He'll be 4th in the pecking order after Rooney, Berbatov and Owen. I'm pretty sure he'll be above Welbeck, Diouf and Macheda. I hope these guys get loaned to get some experience. Probably gonna be a carling cup year for Hernandez.

We really should loan out Macheda, Welbeck and Diouf instead of letting them rot on the bench. The only risk you run is that they'll want to stay where they're loaned to.

I was really hoping we would sell Berbs and cut Owen but it doesn't look like they want to do that. You'd think since we're so cash-strapped they'd want to cut the dead weight like Berbs...?

Anyway...I am preparing for a long season of no goals whenever the Wonder Boy is hurt.

Help?

Doesn't sound like you guys are rating him all that much. Surely goals against Holland and France warrant a few EPL appearances at least as a substitute. He is really good at pulling off the last line, defenders will have a nightmare attempting offside traps.

Man, I wish we would buy that German kid Mesut Osil, we would be so set for our attacks. But realistically I don't see that happening.

I'm not saying he's not gonna play at all. What I think will happen is that Berba and Rooney will be starting with the other 2 strikers on the bench: Owen and Chicharito. I don't see Chicharito playing ahead of Berbatov unless Fergie wanna rest either Rooney or Berbatov. In his first year I think he'll play more as a sub and in the Carling cup. He comes from the Mexican league and doesn't even know English I think. Will take a while before he gets used to Manchester. I certainly expect him to play a bigger part in his 2nd season.

Btw what do you guys think about the idea of playing Berbatov as a terquartista? He's definitely our best passer. He's above Scholes in creativity and passing IMO (I mean the current Scholes. Not the Scholes at his best). Chicharito and Owen are also excellent at making runs and Berba's through passes could be perfect for them. This would mean that Berbatov would have to track back more though. He's not the type who run around fighting for the ball.

-----------Owen/Hernandez------Rooney-------------
-----------------------------------------------------
----------------------Berbatov----------------------
Nani-----------------------------------------Valencia
------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------Fletcher-----------------------

Could work. But Berbatov would have to adapt his game a bit though.

I cant believe our striking force still reads: Rooney, berbatov, owen and possibly welbeck.

Cant win much with that strikeforce. I hope fergie buys.

I can see where you are coming from with your idea, but Fletcher can't cover three attacking midfielders on his own. We have been playing that sort of system this season with Rooney playing all alone on top and Berba providing the passes for Rooney or the wings. The only difference is two covering midfielders instead of two strikers. A lot of Rooney's goals came from a couple of excellent plays between Berba and Valencia. IMO we don't need to add much to our current squad, we only finished 1 point behind Chelsea and we were unlucky to get knocked out of the CL.

Good to see Chicharito scoring important goals. What I like most about him is his hard work and his ability to find space and stretch a defence.... And seeing as how the WC is going we will have a couple of players back earlier then expected

Yeah, I have been really impressed with Oezil...him and Eljero Elia of Holland so far strike me as the great young players of the tournament.

But I don't think we'll be allowed to buy any players this summer, my only hope is Joe Cole since he'd be free.

Forgot about me wanting Gourcuff, he had a nightmare of a tournament. Subpar in game 1, benched for game 2, sent off in game 3.

I'll tell you who I would like to see as Scholes replacement- Giovani Dos Santos. The kid reminds me of a young Ronaldinho.

So did Anderson at first, and I'd take Anderson at his best over Giovanni. According to the press, the rumours are gathering that we've done a deal for Joe Cole already. Mind you once England crash and burn tomorrow (have you heard the lineup?), we'll find out.

I don't think Anderson can be trusted anymore, in light of his knee injury...that can be the type of thing that ruins a player. Dos Santos seems to have better ball control than Anderson, and has explosive speed as well.

You know that he didn't have a succesfull spell at Spurs right? Even his spell in the lower leagues was unsuccesfull. It is funny though that your opinion is based on a couple of games in the WC. And just like Mikey I would take Anderson with a crocked knee over a fit Giovanni anytime. Just like Nani and Fletcher, Anderson needs time, he showed his potential by playing Fabregas off the park and bossing Gerrard at Anfield, he's just unlucky with his injuries at the moment, but he will come good....

The main point about Anderson is that despite Fergie "converting" him into a more defensive minded midfielder - he has still shown his class. When we bought him, Anderson was a roving, Ronaldinho type attacking midfielder - and I strongly suspect that he will be returned to that role very soon. The goal drought I feel was simply down to confidence, because he was lashing them in for Porto - and as the Spurs game proved, he can do that for us (then he got injured)

Fergie has a habit of playing youngsters out of position initially, just to give them a regular run in the team. Also learning the defensive aspect of the game can only help him, but I'd really love to see him being able to use his dazzling array of tricks in a more offensive role.

He would surely perform better with us than he did at Spurs, because he would have much better players around him.

Anderson has had time...he has been with us for what, 3 seasons? How much time do you want to give him?

I still like Anderson though and I'd like to see him play as a center attacking midfielder, but I think we need to start thinking about alternate solutions for the future from now, just in case Anderson does not produce.

WTF? 1 injury and he can't be trusted anymore??? I don't get that logic. He's only 22 FFS.

lol really? He scored only 2 goals for Porto :D He was never a prolific goalscorer. Just an energetic attacking midfielder.

If Fergie thought like you, players like Fletcher, Nani would've long gone. Do you know that Anderson is 22? Still has a lot to learn.
