hah, well, when you hear of anyone being accused of candour after calling someone a rat, let me know ... fickleness is a quality not worth being tolerated ...

It is one of the most common cliche expressions I have ever known and does not insinuate in any way that the person is a rat. Maybe they don't have metaphors where you're from.

condescension? from you?! hahaha! my my, tsk tsk ...

of course it's a bloody common/cliched expression ... my point was that Rooney was being regarded as the traitor (which is what the idiom implies) by an understandably frustrated but still inexcusably fickle fan, coz it looks like Rooney's the one who feels betrayed -- by Ferguson (which is why he went public with the statement that he's been fully fit all along, purposefully contradicting the injury excuse Ferguson's been giving) ...

I am on Ferguson's side in this one. You have to be unbelievably out of touch or dumb to do something like that and still act surprised, when you saw how the same situation affected your England captain and colleague John Terry just half a year earlier.

So the cat is out of the bag....Ferguson has confirmed that Wayne wants to leave....this has been going on since the summer.....a real shame....

So its Done..Rooney DOES want to leave...

--------------------------------------------------
Im sure alot of fans are gonna say ...we saw Keane leave, Ruud leave, Becks leave, etc bla bla bla. Infact even I've said the same alot of times..
But for a note has it been that we have had 3 superstar players leave in a span of approx 2 seasons?
Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez...
thats a huge huge blow.
To replace them would take time. which means the club would be in transition AGAIN, for 2-3 seasons...

---------------------
How about Rooney's comments that he is in the best club in the world , etc. ?
How often do players keep saying that crap and change their minds in a month..its becoming too common now.
I say kick them out..
Im sure Rooney will face huge and even more stick if he moves to another club in the league itself
a move abroad would suit him

but i have no clue if he can ever find a manager like sir alex..who is a fatherly figure...

the exclusive interview given by ferguson on the united website has so much intent in it and clearly shows that ferguson is shocked, cause he has been tehre for rooney always...
even the fans have and team mates..

I never knew Rooney was so fragile from within...bad decision at this stage in his career...and a huge disappointment for us United fans...

Not quite sure what the logic is behind him wanting to leave, he may be an important player to the team but no point keeping someone who has his heart set on leaving.

I always thought of Rooney as an extremely overrated player. Had he been from another country, he wouldn't be nearly as highly regarded.

And honestly, I can't believe Rooney would do United like this. After all the club has done for him...he could have become a career player like Giggs or Scholes, become a true hero of United.

And now we find out that as far back as August, after he had finished arguably his best professional season and everyone in the world was high on Wayne Rooney, he says he no longer wants to be a United player.

If I were Ferguson I would not play Rooney AT ALL from here on out. He wouldn't even make the bench for me.

Okay, so let's let a player who no longer wants to be part of the team play, and be disruptive.

You guys want him to leave for 5m next summer?

Ronaldo was never benched for his WC by Fergie, JT was never benched for cheating on his wife by Ancelotti, Tevez was never benched for cheating on his wife by Mancini.

Don't know why you thought Rooney will be ok with Ferguson benching him and lying to everyone telling them he has an ankle injury. Now you believe he wants out since January? Come on Rooney dies for the club, he wanted to play immediately after he got injured against Bayern.

Rooney made some bad decisions, but being benched for cheating on his wife? He may be ungrateful by wanting to leave, but you guys are returning ungratefulness to him.

Whatev I'm sure Real, Inter, Barca, Chelsea, would have Rooney with all his problems rather than on another team....

Ronaldo wasn't benched after the WC because he cleared **** up with the manager right away and showed his desire to prove the critics wrong. John Terry plays for Chelsea, Tevez plays for Manchester City, so to compare what those managers did with what Ferguson would do is like apples and oranges. Ferguson sold Stam for running his mouth, benched Beckham for acting like a diva and benched Ruud for thinking that he is better than anybody at the club. Those are the examples Rooney should have looked at. And frankly, had he not been so naive and actually admitted his wrongdoing and told the world he will fight to improve, Ferguson would have given him a chance. It doesn't take a genius to realize that Ferguson hates media circus and kicks out everybody who attracts a lot of off-field attention. Rooney's behaviour was bound to attract a lot of off-field attention.

Media hate Man Utd and will do all they can to destroy us. They would love nothing better than to see us crumble.

As for Rooney - If he wants to leave, then let him. I've said before that I don't want anyone at United who doesn't want to be there. And if he even thinks of going to City (as is being reported) then he's lower than worm sh*t in my book.

I stand by this. From the moment Fergie confirmed it today: F*ck the disingenuous little scouse w*nkstain.

I'll bet it's his bitching and moping that's been destroying the team spirit at United too.

-Madrid have no need for him with Higuain and Benzema already
-Inter have no need for him with Eto'o and Milito
-Barca have no need for him with Villa, Messi, Pedro
-Chelsea have no need for him with Drogba, Anelka
-City have no need for him with Adebayor, Tevez

That's every team that can afford him

Not only that, but most of those teams play with one striker so they already have one high-profile striker sitting on the bench, now you're gonna spend maybe 50 million to add one more guy that's gonna have to sit more often than not?

Honestly, for a fair price, I'd take Rooney to Chelsea. Young, excellent player, could fit into our 4-3-3 and he'd be valued solely for his performances on the field. Drogba and Anelka are getting on with the years and we have no good replacements yet. And he's home-grown. If he were to agree on decent wages and the price wasn't huge, I'd go for him.

Real would offer Benzema in exchange (or Fergie would ask for him)
City will buy him just to get one over on United.

To be honest, I couldn't give a damn where he goes - so long as we get good money for him, which is then reinvested in the team.

Didn't Mourinho say a few days ago that he would NOT offer Benzema as a makeweight?

Also, there is zero chance that the money from the sale is going to new players, that money is going straight to the Deceiver's creditors.

Ironically, City makes the most sense for both Rooney and United:

1. Since City have unlimited money, United could get a huge transfer

2. Rooney would get a huge payday

3. Being in the same city, he wouldn't have to move his family

4. He'd get to play with Tevez again, and they were a formidable strikeforce together

5. It would give him an immediate chance to win, at least in England, and he could potentially help them secure a spot in CL next season, which is priority number one at City.

6. When United beat City, it would make it even sweeter just to shove it in Rooney's face.

Team Captain
Wow the media was right afterall... WTF I never expected this. Its his career and his decision, so I have nothing against that.

But I do worry about United. Who will replace him if he leaves? We've seen Ronaldo and Tevez leave... We've had no replacements for them at all. With Rooney going, I expect no replacement as well. All the money's going to Glazers pockets.

Will Berba - Chicha be able to lead us up front? Will we have enough quality in the squad if Rooney goes? I wonder the impact this will make in the team in the future. With more and more stars leaving, others (Nani, Anderson for eg) would want to leave as well. Things don't look good at all at the moment. His departure will have a huge impact in the team overall. When Ronaldo left, we knew we had Rooney. Now Rooney's on his way out. Who do we have?
