United surprised Bayern, but Olic's goal turned it around when it was 11 v 11.

It just shows these guys are made of steel to come back from 3-0. You guys got arrogant and started throwing stones from a glass house.

Bayern took over from the 45th onward, and dominated you very bad, I was chanting ole how they were moving you around like chess pawns.

Add that to the murdering and schooling of futbol you got at the Allianz Arena, I think Bayern wer far more deservedly.

They toyed with you and its time to admit your on your way down. Better do something quick or your glass house might break in the fall:innocent_smile_1:

And stop pretending Rooney is the best.

Messi + Injury > Rooney;)

Are you really going to ignore the fact that United played basically the entire second half a man down? Do you think that may have just had a teeny tiny bit of impact on Bayern's ability to control the ball?

If it would've been 11v11 for the entire second half the game would've almost certainly ended 3-1, or even 4-1 United.

The only reason Bayern is going through is because of the Rafael red card, if not for that we would've bossed the second half the way we did the first half.

My goodness, I have been hearing that for 10 years. Ever since Kewell pointed that out and chose Liverpool. You REALLY gotta hate United to make yourself believe that.

United came out extremely flat in the second half. It seemed clear before the red card that they shot their wad in the first half. Over in the Bayern thread at half time me and Paolo were amazed at the fitness and work rate of United in the first half. We were half jokenly wondering if they had all taken stimulants and Paolo said it looked like 11 Carl Lewis' out there. You can't keep that up for 90 minutes. When Rafael got sent off it combined the fatigue with only having 10 men. In that sense the second goal was inevitable, but Bayern looked better before the card.

Learn to lose, ShiftyPowers its right, United played an awesome first half in the second leg, but speculate all the match with the 0-1 in münchen and played a poor second one tonight...

It was already 11v10 once Rooney injured his ankle yet again. Fergie really should've had subbed him off earlier for Macheda, because going at Bayern with pace seemed to work for the opening 40 minutes of the match.

2nd half, United were disappointing, even before Rafael got sent off.

I think you are quite right here. Ferguson should have taken off Rooney after 30 minutes and put on Macheda instead of Berbatov. Macheda runs everywhere full of energy, Berbatov just waits to get the ball most of the time. I think playing Rooney was a great call. It made Bayern nervous and threw their whole gameplan off balance. They were too focused on Rooney to watch over Nani. But once they realized that he can't do anything after 30 minutes, that's where Macheda should have came on. And then putting Giggs and Berbatov for the last 10 minutes when we gotta run?

United Forever.

Don't worry guys. We lost to a better team, there's nothing to shame about.

Hopefully, we will buy few superstars and will play much better next season. We got always suck a year before World Cup. Last time we eliminated in the group stage.

Btw, EPL hopes are still alive. Let's Believe and Be United, we should still through those Glazers away, that's the most important trophy if happens.

Again, We should proud to be a United fan, and We'll support United as far as our hearts beat.

I refer to MaesteroZidane signature: Proud After Victory, Loyal after defeat.

To be fair Shifty, you have to add up the fact that the United players were covering up ground in Wayne Rooney's supposed absence.(Well, he wasn't even running after his collision with Van Buyten). I think that's part of their downfall as well, should've brought him off after he was struggling.

How many minutes did United play with 11 men in the second half?? 5 minutes? How can you draw conclusions on 5 minutes? Maybe we would've got the tempo up slowly. That red card killed our momentum completely.

EDIT: Yes, Rafael was sent off on the 50th minute

Yes, when the red card happened I knew we were in trouble...but if it hadn't happened, I think we would've been alright.

And seriously, why no defender marking the far post on the corner kick? That is like one of the first thing kids are taught in defending corners, a defender on each post.

Well fine, but what caused us problems in the first half was the constant and unrelenting pressure. It was either called off in the second half for some unknown reason, or you were too tired to keep it up. I doubt SAF said "let them have everything they want in the first 5 minutes, but after that we'll really stick it to them".

Quit using the sending off as an excuse for your elimination. Your own player put your team a man down. All Bayern did was seize an opportunity created by one of your player's mistakes. Sheesh, it's not like the Bayern players asked for Rafeal to be sent off. Yes it gave Bayern an advantage but is was a fair one and within the rules of the game and one of your own players was at fault for it. So quit being sore losers and just accept that Bayern eliminated you guys fair and sqaure and give some credit where it's due, ok?

Oh come on...I am the most pessimistic United fan here and even I wouldn't say that. Bayern are NOT better than us, they just benefited from circumstance today.

United at our best > Bayern at their best on any day of the year.
