Starting XI
Not really, Rooney is one of our most importnant players, he creates goals and scores them as well. RVP just adds a little extra to our play and he's a great finisher which we were lacking before.

Oh and tits.
I never said Rooney wasn't one of your most important players but that Van Persie is your best and most talented. That "little extra" you speak of has improved your attack to no end. You don't realize how good he is because his touches are so clean and easy on the eye. The rest of your players apart from possibly Scholes don't have near his technical ability or footballing brain.

EDIT: and he creates many chances without even touching the ball.

Yeah, he scored twice against Norwich if my memory serves me right. its 4 times actually. I didn't see him with Manure against Norwich though-I am sure he did create chances however.

One thing is though about Van Persie is that he isn't exactly a clinical finisher and while he is great at acting as an extension of midfield by dropping deep or moving wide...he isn't as good as at it while starting deeper.he is more clinical than most strikers but he scores because of his game reading and technique more than instinct. He is a converted striker and it sometimes shows while I think Hernandez is a far more clinical finisher of chances than him. But the thing with him is that you get the ball moving in danger areas more smoothly,he is easy to play with because of his football brain+technique unless you are Robben or Sneijeder (H) and he can act as an extension of midfield.

Obviously Rooney is better overall than RVP. RVP can't do the James Milner.

You know...the James Milner-giving legs and play to assist class players who are above running around too much. City legend James Milner. Rooney wanted to play with him but Fergie "convinced" him by bending over and revealing where he+Glazers hid the $$$.

I wish Arsenal somehow kept the current Man Utd talisman and we would be closer to title challengers. Rooney now gets to play in his best position-in the shadows of a great player- and we are left to worry about Theo ******* Walcott leaving us for free :-(

Okay,I'm bullsh***ing. Rooney is great. If only Sneijder could play and sacrifice himself for the best Hollish player around he might have stayed out of happiness.

Wow, that is one hell of a post.

I like midweek matches ... the timing is better for me ... I hope we can defeat West Ham at home and build some momentum ... RVP and Rooney should start scoring again ... It's all about Chicharito super-sub goals at the moment.

I'm 100% serious about this: you should buy Lars and Sven Bender and pair them in your midfield for the next 10 years.

I'd trade any of our central midfielders...for any other central midfielders :(

Don't know much about the Benders, though, I'm only arsed enough to follow Sankt Pauli und a bit of Hannover from Germany.

edit: lol, the "und" wasn't on purpose...

I think Sneijder will flop big time. If you play him in central midfield you would still have similar problems with teams bypassing your midfield with ease and you have Rooney+Kagawa who are way better off the ball as a no#10. Also with RVP and Rooney as your forwards you might not need a 10.

You should buy Strootman or Wanyama or both or with another player who is good off the ball and covers a lot of ground kind of like a Khedira. I am not sure about this myself but I've read Wanyama can play B2B pretty well and scores goals as well. Strootman will fit in easily in your current setup. He is somewhat like Carrick with a attitude of the Barcelona,Bayern,Milan and PSV legend Mark Van Bommel. His passing range seems pretty good and he is strong.

Oh I think you are said to be seriously interested in Strootman. I believe he can be the next big Hollish thing. If we didn't have Carlos I'd want him though Carlos can become a 10-but I personally think he has far too much potential as a complete central midfielder and more than of a 10.

Sneijder is not a #10, he's a total midfielder. His best season were playing behind Milito though.

poet11

Oh and tits.
Really? seems to me he has been playing no.10 for ages. More like he promised to become a total midfielder.

If he can be disciplined he could be Scholes' successor though-and by that I mean positionally and play restricted to adapt to a system rather than only be responsible for stuff where there is glory. He has glory hunting and attention seeking written all over him unlike Scholes or Alonso to play that role.

My point is that I suspect Sneijder would be a pointless luxury signing.
