Zlatan is the shit and would be a king in the EPL. Considering you don't have to pay a transfer fee he'd be good for those 53M since you can afford them.

Signing Zlatan reminds me of Ferguson's decision to sign van Persie - you know what you're paying for is just a one season fix, but if he pushes you over the top in terms of delivering your objectives then it's worth every penny.

He is also worth a lot in terms of merchandise sales and international media coverage

van Persie was signed on a long term contract though. Hopefully Zlatan's will only be 1 year contract.

Also, Zlatan shirts would definitely generate lots of money.

Zlatan's a lot older than van Persie was I am sure it will only be one year though possibly some kind of performance/appearence based extension trigger

It could be a 2 years contract too. A stupid Chinese club is offering 53 m euros for a 2 year contract. He may demand for something similar.\

Also don't forget; Zlatan's fantastic season has been in mediocre Ligue 1. The quality there is nowhere compared to EPL. That's why Di Maria went there.

Zlatan isnt as punished by injuries as Van Persie was.

No one signs a 1-2 years contract... I guess it will be 2+1 or something like that.

Age depends on the players, Ronaldinho was finished with 27 years old while Maldini retired when he was 40. Stanley Matthews won the Ballon d'or when he was 37 and played until 50 (H).

He has sponsorship with Nike so United wont be able to use him for our shirt ads ... similar to Rooney ...

Shirt sales are not a significant source of income. It's a stupid argument to justify a move.

It is. There was an article that suggested it is not a significant source of income for the club but I think thats bullshit. An official jersey cost more than 100 dollars. Thats expensive for a piece of cloth that costs nothing to manufacture.

I was absolutely not justifying the move, just saying he will boost jersey sales.

There is also "memorabilias" not just jerseys that players can bring.

Out of the 100 dollars per jersey, some people say the club only gets $ 15 because the rest goes to the sponsors but I think that's an underestimate. There are no official numbers anywhere.

I would assume Mata days are numbered, he was straight out the door when Mourinho came to Chelsea. There have even been rumours about a move back to Stamford Bridge but I'm pretty meh on it - Mata seems like a wonderful human being but as a player he flatters to deceive. Notice he only stands out as a good player during poor seasons for whichever club he is playing for.

On the flip side Ander Herrera could come into his own under Mourinho
