Man Utd Squad Advice

Hey,

yeah yeah, i know its man utd and they're "easy" to win with, but they're my favourite team so i have a game with them.

i'm now in October 2007 with my latest Man Utd game, and through alot of unprotected contracts, expiries, complete bargains and tonnes of trophy success with massive rewards; i've managed to create a pretty successfull team.

but i was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to sort out my team and what players to get rid of at certain ages etc.? its just that i like to "keep my team moving" in a scense (hence the fact my loyalty rating is 2 ).

one important thing for me with my team is that i keep an English/British core to the team.

Esposito, Ronaldinho and Ferdinand are by far my best players, but Lahm, Pizarro, Zidan and Onuoha are becoming increasingly vital. And also players such as Hargreaves, Kompany and Smith who are amazing squad players who i know i can always depend on.

i've been trying to get Steven Gerrard because imo he would be the perfect addition to this squad - but all offers so far have failed.

You've got a pretty good squad of young guns there.
Of course you can always start looking for regens, but I think overall your squad is quite good.

If there are any players you should get rid of, it would be Marcos and Legear. I don't think they are up to the challenge of playing for a team like Man Utd IMHO.

Also you should try to balance out your midfield. Sell a few AMC's and buy a few DMC's.

heh, i was thinking something similar myself.

Marcos is a definite player to get rid of - Robinson is doing superbly and Lastuvka seems very happy being backup at the moment.

i think at the moment, i dont really need any more DMCs as Owen Hargreaves and Pizarro are both near world-class and Alinosi is also developing pretty well.

at the moment, i'm playing Zidan as a striker, so what i was thinking was that if i sold maybe Lampard and Legear, then i could have him more as a AMC/MC, then Podolski and Tevez would get more games. what dya think of that?

Sounds good. Keep in mind that those two certainly Tevez can play both as a creative player aswell as a deadly striker. You could set him up in a rather free role

yeah i've occassionally played him in that role and he's done well.

one thing that does concern me is that i dont have any out-and-out strikers (SCs). Do you think thats a problem?

Where does Esposito play the best?I mean left/right/centre, where do you play him?

well i mostly play him either on the left or as a MC with an arrow to the left (look at formations above) and he is absolutely amazing! He's left footed so i'd advice basically playing him on the left side of midfield - either as an LM or MC. Although he'll easilly play on the right aswell

You should sell Zidan. He has an attitude problem and if you don't play him he will start crying.

Play Esposito behind the striker or on the right (his best position). He likes to cut in and shoot from the right. Scores plenty of goals.

well zidan is a regular in my team anyway, so there is not a problem there and he doesn't seem to mind not playing every once in a while

i basically play esposito anywhere in midfield and he does amazing; last season he played 47 matches, scored 26 goals, made 36 assists, was man of the match 24 times and had an average rating of 9.53 and he's worth 42million

and he generally plays better on the left for me anyways (seeing as he's left footed)

just buy up the best premiership players, take over a championship team, and sell the cheap to your feeder team

And you should really make your team more English

But what do I do? I just started my first game ever with Bayern. We lost the first game of the season to Dortmund 1-4 on the road......

And now at the winter break we have 17 Bundesliga wins, 0 draws, and 1 loss

If you're looking for a great player, look no further than Bastien Schweinsteiger. I'll admit that the game is easier if Chelsea buy Ballack for 50 Million, and you take that money and buy Podolski and van der Vaart for about 30 Mil.

But seriously, Deisler can't hold down a first team place because of Schweinsteiger. Get him.

That's not Man United. Ronaldo, Smith, Rooney, Rio are the only players there, then it's just the world all-stars.

Sell all the players and build an all english squad. pretty impressive even though it is only Man Utd.

yeah, i did accept - Podolski and Tevez seem to have nicely settled in now and are both playing fantasticaly. I've got Adu on the way on a free at the end of the season so he'll slot nicely into a squad role

i'm expecting Spector back from on loan at tottenham - He'll probably replace Gallas in the squad (gonna sell him)

and i'm also intending in promoting Giovanni dos Santos into the first team from the reserves next season
