Man Utd line up Dutch keeper
Dutch keeper Edwin van der Sar is set to join Manchester United from Fulham.
The 34-year-old is expected to sign a two-year deal at Old Trafford when he has completed international duty on July 1, after a fee was agreed between the two clubs.
United were linked to the player in January, only for van der Sar to sign a new contract at Craven Cottage.
At the time van der Sar said: "If I had a call from Sir Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger, then probably I would not have signed here, to be honest."
Ferguson has been looking for a goalkeeper after releasing Roy Carroll and Ricardo, leaving just Tim Howard as a recognised goalkeeper in his squad.
Ferguson had been linked with a number of high-profile stoppers, including Boro's Mark Schwarzer, although he is not believed to have the funds to bid for the likes of Gianluigi Buffon of Juventus.
Fulham, who also have former Boro keeper Mark Crossley on their books, are expected to move in for Norwich City's Robert Green as replacement for van der Sar.
Van der Sar, who is believed to have cost £2million, now has the task of filling the boots of Peter Schmeichel, who left Old Trafford in 1999.
