Man United accepts bid for Beckham...

Just heard it on BBC Radio 1 but I don't think he'll go to Barca and Joan Laporta is only saying he'll sign beckham so he gets elected as president of Barcelona

But David has not reached a deal with Barça yet and that will be tricky because he wants to go to Madrid.

If they really are £90m in debt you can bet they will put United through the same thing Lazio did.

I don't think ManU would put this on their web site without something signed by Laporta. I think it's clear he and Man Utd have reached an agreement and they have written it on paper.

Marca say today there is a kind of cold war between Real Madrid and Manchester. ManU don't want David to to to Real and Florentino decided to enter the Ronaldinho bid only to annoy them.

Well, it's on the United web site that United have had talks with Barca and that if Beckham agrees terms with them, and Laporta is elected president then the offer is acceptable.

Some journalists in Barcelona are saying Laporta has made a deal with Ronaldinho as well. I guess the elections are done after this.

I think Manutd have let down Beckham here. If he wants to move on that's his decision and I would respect that because of the years of amazing service he has given the club but for Manutd to get rid of him is just plain stupid and ignorant towards a player like Beckham.
United are basically negotiating with someone who has no power at Barcelona...hell, I could make a bid for Beckham and will lure him to my club when I eventually some day become that club's president, it's stupid.

Beckham doesn't want to leave manutd, he has said so but I don't see why the board would want to sell him, he is a crucial player to our team. Who would they replace him with anyway, I can't think of a single player that could fill the right midfield role as well as Beckham does, except Figo maybe but he's stated that he doesn't want to go anywhere.

he says he's gutted to be treated like a piece of meat....
and i dun blame him, what with the women in a bar slobbering whenever i show a bit of chest....i totally understand his predicament..but i digress(H)

It could be a number of things. With £30m+ in todays transfer market you could get almost any player you want to replace him, and while he is undoubtedly talented, as Solskjaer proved last season he is replaceable.

With £30m+ you could easily get Ronaldinho to partner Ruud and a very good right sided player to replace Beckham, and still have money left over to strengthen other areas of the team that need strengthening to mount a challenge for the CL.

Another thing that could be happening is questioning Beckham's loyalty to United. Most United players have been tested in this way, and maybe the board and Ferguson want to see Beckham turn down their contract and sign a new one at United.

Beckham's also 28yrs old. While he has quite a lot of good years left in him he's probably at the stage where United could cash in on him at his highest value. If he doesn't sign a new contract for United then we would miss out on this.

I've seen United go through this sort of a change before. Ferguson sold Hughes, Kanchelskis and Ince in 1995 and I was really worried about the future for Man Utd then. But Ferguson proved that he knew what he was doing. While I would be a little nervous at the sale of one of our most talented players if it did come about I am confident that Ferguson will do it to strengthen the team rather than weaken it.

We shall see what happens.

Nah... Beckham's going to the LA Galaxy. ;)

That is of course, if MLS can afford to spend millions on him and if he's willing to play for a salary of $260,000 per year. :) I think he will come to MLS eventually though, in a few years and on a free transfer.

Personally I wont lose any sleep if United sell Beckham. To be honest if United sell him for 30 million I'll be delighted. I'm not fickle, as good as Beckham is I've never been his biggest fan. It will be nice to look in the papers and not have to see pointless **** like "Beckham walks outside to his bin!", and lets be honest, he does bring it on himself. Oh and seeing the back of his dick head wife will also be a relief ;)

Now lets look at the positives:-

*All the "Beckham United" fans will **** off :)

*As monkee said 30 million can buy more or less anyone in todays market. Though United shouldn't waste this money on one player... Look to stregthen the defence with a new centre back and a keeper, someone upfront to support ruud also and of course another right winger... perhaps bring Quaresma in but play Solskjaer on thr right and slowly introduce the higher level of football to Quaresma.

*The club will no longer be connected to "posh spice" :)

*End of the speculation and the on going contract talks.

*No need to worry about Bosman when the time approaches.

*30 million for a 28 year old :)

Personally, I always thought Giggsy has been a bigger match winner for United than David Beckham, especially in Europe. So I kind of agree with you there Mish!

This may be the biggest flop in the history of football in recent years after Mendieta's transfer to Lazio.

And then, Barcelona will sink in debts, as Lazio (ever more than they are already).

Ummm...David Beckham's advisers, SFX, have just released a statement saying that David has no plans to meet Joan Laporta or his representatives over a move to Barcelona.

Although, he may not be going to Barca I reckon it's fairly certain he's off...

Who says he wants to go to Real.......I thought he said that he wanted to stay with Manchester United. I did hear about the agreement to sell Beckham for 30 million but IF Laporta is elected and IF Beckham agrees to a contract with Barca. I don' t think that Real Madrid can afford Beckham.....right?

Now Manchester United' s website also has confirmed this.....I don' t think that he will agree to a deal with Barcelona...and I am going to make a wild guess and say that he will end up spending atlease one more month as a ManUnited player.
