Major League Soccer, MLS, in FIFA 06

I'm putting together feedback to send to EA in regards to MLS. Mostly in regards to the attributes assigned to players and what the players look like. Obviously, rosters will be updated for FIFA 07, but are there players that were rated to high, or to low in your opinion for FIFA 06? Additionaly were there players that didn't really look like their real life conterpart (look at Carlos Bocanegra at Fulham for a great example of this). Any other feedback that the community has in regards to MLS would help me a lot in drafting my note to EA. Thanks.

How about cutting it out? As a league, there are many more deserving league over the world. To reel off a few. Aussie A League (maybe), eircom Premier League, most African Leagues (or just throw in all the teams from the African Champions League), or more international teams. The MLS, in my opinion, is worse than all of these leagues.

I understand your complaint, and agree some of these leagues should be added. This really isn't up for debate in this thread, nor is MLS going to be dropped as the amount of Americans that buy the game are probably what keeps MLS in the FIFA series. Thanks for the reply.

Well,

Americans who do buy the game usually tend to go to off shore leagues for starters. MLS is the least played league in FIFA 06, no offense, I played a season just for fun, but it is just too easy, just like the Mexican League, very little effort were placed into both of these leagues which is lame coming from FIFA. So if you want an easy win-win season, play these leauges, if you want something more challenging, go off shore.

I know this is not the topic of discussion but my reference to that is the following: Very few people mind the MLS. Again, no offense. So even if you do send a note, letter, package, threat, bomb.... ^_^ :P They'll probably do nothing to spice them up. T_T

I think FIFA may be focusing on adding new leagues and roster updates, since that is their motto. New face, new things, same gameplay. Sucks. But who knows, maybe they might actually use their brains for once and try countering WE/PES whcih is really starting to tick them off.

Best of luck with note.

I'm curious to understand what you mean by "little effort being placed into both MLS and the Mexican League"? If you could share what would make things better, maybe it won't be so "lame" in 07. Thanks.

STuff like cutting it out from games will kill the MLS. It needs as much exposure as it can get at the moment so that it survives and goes somewhere. At least americans are now serious about football.

well maybe it wouldn't be so lame if the manager mode had tournaments like libertadores and sudamericana it wouldn't be so lame..........but you need the license to so many southamerican leagues to do that

I play Career Mode with the Chicago Fire but I've used the Creation Centre and Tournament Master to expand MLS. I've added the Concacaf Champions' Cup, modified the "U.S. Open Cup," added an "America's Cup" and added USL D1.

Now, the 1st and 2nd place teams qualify for "America's Cup" along with the top 2 Mexican, Brazilian, Korean and Australian (created them too) along with Boca Juniors and River Plate and some regional clubs from Harbour View, Municipal, L.A. Firpo, Colo Colo, Portmore Utd, Alajuelense, Olimpia and Saprissa. The 8 regional teams are added to a group round linked to the Champions' Cup with the top 4 filling out the America's Cup 4 groups and the bottom 4 landing in the Champions' Cup. The 3rd and 4th place MLS clubs qualify for the quarterfinals of the Champions' Cup along with the 3rd and 4th Mexican League teams.

The U.S. Open Cup now starts with the 12 USL D1 teams and the bottom 4 MLS teams. The 8 winners move on to face the top 8 MLS clubs.

I added promotion/relegation where the last 2 teams in MLS drop down and the top 2 USL D1 teams move up. After my 1st season D.C. Utd and Chivas USA were relegated and Miami and Portland promoted. I'm going to try to buy Adu and O'Brien when the transfer period opens.

I've added all the missing UEFA Cup teams and some J-League clubs to the ROW league which makes it easier to find transfers for MLS. Since MLS is rated lower than most leagues it's hard to find star players who don't find MLS as too much of a step down.

The last thing I changed was swapping the 2006 FIFA World Cup gameplay files with FIFA 06. Now the CPU makes subs appropriately. The CPU subs tired players and brings on attackers if trailing later in the game.

There's no chance that EA Sports will do something other than the basic for MLS in 07 but it wouldn't be that difficult.

There should be something done for updates this season. Almost every game for EA you can download updated rosters..Fifa needs to be no different, especially considering the MLS is always one year behind. Makes no sense to market an out of date product.

Players need to be fine tuned a little. Some of the ratings are rather harsh.

Guevara was the reigning MVP and he isnt even ranked above 75.

Most of the keepers are ranked too low, MLS does have quality keepers.

Make sure to somehow add Toronto in... yet again 1 year out of date otherwise

Make a serious push to get two or three stadiums from North America involved...I'd actually make a push and get the Rhino's and their park put into the rest of the world catagory...same go's for Montreal or Vancouver....EA needs to add a Canadian club team.

Add the create a team feature and let them be used in the manager mode.

Since the MLS has been around 10 years and also with Fifa for 10 years, you should also try and create an all MLS team..make it unocked or something of the like.

Taking MLS out of FIFA 07 will not kill the league. That's a naive view. MLS's problems are far beyond a simple video game and are going to take years (decades at the current pace) to sort out, but it wont die.

I agree the scores are way out of whack. MLS keepers should be better, but mostly player attributes should go down, in many cases, *way* down. MLS should be on par somewhere between the English Championship and 1st division. Remember Landon Donovan is the dominant player in the league, and he is not world class by any means. Take him as the top midfielder and adjust accordingly. I would suspect there will be more higher rated MLS defenders, fewer high rated midfielders and even fewer forwards.

With all due respect, MLS is still stocked with journeymen players.
That is something that wont change very quickly, especially if MLS continues to use the college system as a feeder.
