I know this game comes out in early August but I'm starting this thread to post some of the new things which the game will have. Last year's game was great but this year's edition is going to surpass it with ease. The Franchise mode will have some new additions that are outlined in the following article along with some other features which show up at the bottom of the page:

Sports: Madden NFL 2005: Franchise Revealed

Other new features include to ability to create and edit your favorite team's fans along with new features that are added to the Super Bowl celebration:

This is an example of the Create-a-fan option that will be available in the game:

:D

If your too lazy to read through all that stuff, this article has the five best things about the game:

the weirdest thing thats being done by the competing game of Madden which is Sega's ESPN NFL Football 2K5 is that their price tag is going to be..

$19.99!!!

pretty big move by Sega to compete with EA.

What a bunch of ass holes, they know their game isn't good enough so they're gonna lower the price :nape:

I already have it on pre order with NCAA 2005.

Anyway will owner mode still be in the game? It doesn't say if it is going to stay in the game or not.

Yeah, Owner Mode will still be in there along with the new Storylines part that can affect Team Chemistry and so on (just like in MVP Baseball). :p Franchise mode will contain all the options it had last year with a number of other options.

You haven't played it? Gameplay and graphics wise, last year's edition was just as good as Madden 2004. Sega's line of sports games (with the exception of NFL) are vastly superior to their EA counterparts graphically and gameplay-wise. ESPN NBA was nearly flawless, NBA Live 2004 was a piece of shite. Same goes for ESPN NHL and NHL 2004, though the gap isn't as big.

Visual Concepts is an excellent developer, Sega is a respectable publisher, I don't know how you can call them "assholes".

I call them assholes because they don't have the balls to put the game out with the same price as Madden because they know that they will be killed in sales, I mean if you want to sell a product with that mentality why did you do it in the first place.

think of it as.. that the sega loves its customers and wouldnt want to overprice them with 50 dollars. :)

its good for us, and how game should be sold. i mean 50 dollars for a game is outrageous (but come to think of it, 20 dollars is outrageous too.)

People consider ESPN NFL the better game. When you think about it Madden has pretty much diminished in gameplay the past few years. People buy Madden because of the name pretty much. The better game will always be NCAA anyways. But ESPN is gonna have better options than Madden.

They're not assholes, they're smart. Look at this way. People are gonna buy Madden regardless even if ESPN is the better game. What Visual Concepts is doing is building a fanbase for a future. There will be tons of undecided games out there wondering what game to buy. They'll see that 19.95 price tag and more than likely buy ESPN. Over the next year ESPN will have a hit on his hand and will more than likely raise the price back up to 49.99. After seeing the screens and movies for both games and feature lists I know I won't be buying Madden this year.

You can add me to that list. I just read up on some of the things that ESPN is going to have and it sounds pretty awesome. Live reports from games around the league with actual reporters and Chis Berman live at the studio, that's pretty cool stuff. The whole draft thing with Mel Kiper giving you info on players is really interesting as well. I really might consider buying this game and it only helps with that price tag.

:D
