okay
I played Madden 2004 and really enjoyed the game. Got NFL 2K5 about 7 Months later. My opinion, it was tough for me to transition. I was just so used to the layout and controlling scheme. It's technically basic changes in the button layout, but having only played a Madden game when it came to football games, it was an unpleasant change. The play schemes seemed unoriginal, not varied enough and seemed the same from team to team. I just didn't give it a chance though due to my stubborness. I gave it a chance again about a month ago and really stuck it through thick and thin. Now I feel the game is definitely better than Madden. The variety of moves and types of runs you can pull off is quite amazing and look amazingly free flowing, more so than Madden '04. The moves are always varied due to the situation, nullifying that repetive feeling of seeing the same move work in the same manner. They really added some great animations especially in the way and manner you are tackled and dragged down like in real life. Presentation is very TV like, which is very welcoming, with lively commentary to bat, no more stale Madden comments of the obvious. Two thumbs up there in my department, ha, nothing against the guy of course. Anyway. The play schemes add a lot more variety once you learn how to really play and search the playbook. It was great to bust out a flea-flicker on a 1st and 10 after I had been just trouncing the CPU with my run game one time and suddenly busted out the flea, very rewarding feeling to see that baby come down for the big TD! Overall, the game is fun and seems more realistic from where I am sitting when I play the game. It's a great purchase for a LOT of goodies. Basically, I really enjoy the game and will continue playing it for a long while. Great game though.
