Looking for the world title holder

Not the World Cup winners, but the national team which holds this sort of unoficial title, a format like the boxing belts, i think it dates to the first match between Scotland and England, where the winner became the world champions, any team beating the holder gets proclaimed champion.
Couldn't find anything around the net, any info is appreciated.

Woah, Australia were once world champions for almost a month. And Angola and Zimbabwe held the title between them for over a year :crazyboy:

Uruguay have a chance to get it back from Venezuela since they're playing them next week.

Someone please clarify me... it started with England - Scotland (first nations to play the "world cup" between each other) then it goes on to who beat the winner of the last match?
