Logitech WM RumblePad problem - "z" button not mapped

Hello.

I patched FIFA2004 to version 1.1

I use Logitech Wingman RumblePad USB.

My problem is that FIFA2004 do not see "Z" button on my Pad.
I can configure 7 of 8 buttons - all except "Z"(A, B, C, X, Y, R1, L1 works fine).
When I press "Z" during the game nothing happens.

Due to this I cannot do tricks, walk slowly and shot low.

I found here: http://www.soccergaming.tv/showthread.php?threadid=82501&highlight=logitech+rumble someone with same problem but in DEMO.

Any suggestions how to fix this problem?
Is there some fix program like this released to DEMO version?

Please, someone help :(

Rumblepad Xtender is for DEMO and not work for me with FULL VERSION :(

Tis xtender is small tool, 300kb so it is surely just a cosmetical issue to make our RumblePad work.

Anyone know how to fix this problem? Or someone have Xtender for FULL VERSION?

Here's the solution for all of you.

First, open the file config.dat in C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA 2004\data\system\config.dat

You will notice that the line:
"Logitech WingMan RumblePad" 9 "Logitech WingMan RumblePad" 9 1 2 3 4 5 8 7 10 9 6 0

and

"WingMan RumblePad" 9 "WingMan RumblePad" 9 1 2 3 4 5 8 7 10 9 6

since the order is menu, lob, pass, shot, trigger run, through pass, sprint, OTB, walk

The stupid EA sports assign number 10 to walk (but rumblepad does not have button 10, right?). It is the Z button or button 6 which you want to assign to. So change the above two lines to:
9 1 2 3 4 5 8 7 6 9 10 0
and
9 1 2 3 4 5 8 7 6 9 10
respectively.

Actually if i were you i would assign the start button to z button and walk button to number 9. It is less convenient to press both z button and right analog stick to do skill move, right?

So I would recommend
"Logitech WingMan RumblePad" 9 "Logitech WingMan RumblePad" 6 1 2 3 4 5 8 7 9 6 10 0

"WingMan RumblePad" 9 "WingMan RumblePad" 6 1 2 3 4 5 8 7 9 6 10

One drawback is it would be more difficult to do 360-spin, but other skill moves are easier to be done.

becareful not to get cordless rumblepad mixed up with wingman cordless! - they are different entries in the config file!

i have a wingman cordless (USB) and the default settings are actually ok as it has 4 shoulder buttons (L1, L2, R1 & R2) similar to the standard PS2 gamepads.

Button 10 ('walk/call 2nd defender') is the L2 button on my pad and this actually works quite well as it can be easily combined with L1 (to bring up the IGM) or with the right analogue stick to do various special moves/tricks.

I also found that as default, the menu button is my pad's start button and button Z is used to put curl on a freekick (as it was in FIFA2003) so its worth checking all this before messing with your configs.

just thought i'd point this out. :)

Actually Andy, I have the same cordless pad as you but cannot get those other buttons to work. i am curious to see why it works for you but not me. When I try to configure in the menu, it will not recognise L2 or R2 or the Z buttons. I have got the Z button to work by following the directions to alter the config file, but am still needing help with the others. But it already works for you?

have you actually tried using the L2 and Z button in a game?

if so, and it doesnt work i cant realy help you much cause mine worked the first time i played it.

all i can say is that if you cant get the ingame controller config to work, i found you can still apply the above fixes as there is an entry for wingman cordless in the config.dat...but then you could probably use the logitech profiler as someone mentioned above.

good luck

Thanks, your right and they actually do work ingame though I cannot re-assign them. I guess i can cope with that.

pffff
your solution doesn't work for me... z doesnt work. I want it to be of the ball, so that my L-button can be the dribble button. I can switch them, but z still doesn't do a thing.

config.dat doesnt work...
i don't know what the solution is with profiler... don't knwo how it works.
rumblepad extender worked just fine in the demo, can somebody please make the same thing for the full version.

NEED HELP!
