So is anyone that posts here an LLMer?

I've often played this way, and was wondering if there were any like minded gamers out there?

Oh cool...Of all people, Mr Power...could have asked you about this before!

So you a strict follower of the LLM rules? I got the hell flamed at me at the SI forums, not for breaking any rules, or suggesting they be broken, but for telling some guy how to add a player in the editor forum...I didnt do this myself, but people decided Id be a fun person to flame anyway :)

Not strict. Early on I found free agent players using player search, which is I think illegal in strict LLM rules (though I maintain that, for example, Conference managers would be able to get a list of local free agents on request).

But most of my later players were scouting findings, which are ridiculously easy assuming you have a >15 JPA scout (and some go for very cheap if you sacrifice other stats). In my Fisher game I probably have an entire squad and half a reserve team of >160 PA players from the UK, Scandanavia and Eastern EU.

Obviously that game was in FM07, which I will keep playing until I finally get bored of it (not likely with 4 months of pizza delivery and not much else to do, aside from going out, before uni starts again) or finally bring Fisher to the top.

(BTW I've played another season since then and qualified for CL, before getting through my group phase)

Cool.

You a member at SI? Should read the posts in the LLM forum. The guys cant seem to tell me what rule I broke. Just that I broke one.

I was, but I have no idea what my username/password was, OR which email I used to sign up with. That was my second, and most successful, LLM (last time I gave up on trying to get promoted to Bundesliga)... I haven't even really read up on the 'rules' properly apart what stuck from when I used to scour the online community more back in the CM days.

If I had to guess I'd say that they wouldn't be too big on editing.... I think you're usually "meant" to play with the official db.

Yeah you are...Which I think is another silly rule...Third party updates are often much more accurate...it's fine for most of those guys, theyre English-where the game is given much more detail, or obviously don't want the game as realistic as they make out. Countries like ours are often well off before third party updates... :(

As for editing yourself, you're not allowed to do it obviously...Or you know what to look for. Which is fair enough.

The biggest problem with LLM is that you really get drawn into the game.

I'm finding FM08 really hard to pick up because the Fisher one is still going so well, about 16 seasons in. And the squad I've built up will only be hitting it's peak in about 5-7 seasons. :(

I didn't see this thread alex, maybe if you would have specified it, I could have known about it, let me guess "search button?". Well here are my teams that I am playing with

AC Legnano
Record
W:2 L:1 D:3 (Won 4 Friendlies in the preseason)
Transfers
Signed 2 wingbacks for my defence, both youngsters, one from PSG who was 12k, and better than anyone on my team, and another winback from Africa who was a free transfer. I need a young striker since mine are both in their late 30's

I will post a lineup once I get home, I dont know the names off the top of my head.

San Marino
Record
W:3 L:3 D:2 (Won like 2 friendlies)
Transfers
None, but I am looking to strengthen my defence/midfield

FIFA Manager 08

Vicenza Calcio
Record
W:1 L:1 D:2
Transfers
None, I have a great striker Shwoch, who is easily a Serie A Caliber striker, he is carrying my team with a average of a goal per game.

I have been playing with San Marino a lot lately. I am at school right now, so I don't have my lineup :o

Every squad I've ever had could be described as "only be hitting its peak in about 5-7 seasons." I guess LLM is a little different at the beginning though, when you are scouring the free agent lists and transfer lists just looking for that one kid to take you to the next level. Sometimes it's a 30 year old EPL washout willing to play in D2, sometimes it's a newly generated 17 year old that no one else has discovered yet (my best ever was Ryan Simpson, I think in FM 05. Sad that I remember that.).

No idea why I'm bumping this, but the forum is pretty dead anyway.

In my case, a 35 year old David Beckham to League Two  (H)

But, yeah. At the early levels you're severely restricted as to who and where you can scout. Generally the high-potential players are quickly grabbed by the big clubs and it is very, very difficult to find players that will develop as quickly as your LLM team will advance. Generally in the lower leagues I'm just signing anyone that will help me get promotion and it's only at about Championship (or equivalent) where i'm able to start signing insane potential players.

Anyway... my job is late afternoon to early evening while all my friends and, as of Monday, the gf are all working regular day shifts so I can totally see myself having plenty of free time for another shot at LLM over the next few weeks and I'll try and keep it posted here.

I'm currently playing as Braintree in Blue Square South (Conference South) in FM08. My plan is to get to the Premiership. I started the first season unemployed and got offered this job in March, I ended finishing 9th with this squad. This season I am half way through in 2nd place, hopefully my squad dosen't lose form during the play-offs (1st place team is points ahead and look to strong for me to overtake).

I noticed I only had two injuries so far this whole season :o. So I guess part-time contractors get fewer.

My computer just isn't good enough to handle FM anymore :(

Maybe I'll try to play an LLM career with just England and a medium database, that might work out.

Parra, I had the same thing all last year; second shift can get pretty lonely, but you have tons of time to play computer games through the night.
