Liverpool Vs Valencia [RESULT]

Chelsea2001

Senior Squad
Liverpool lose 1-0 through a goal from Rufete. If Basel win in Moscow Liverpool then MUST win away to Basel to qualify. Canizares had a great game in goal tonight, Liverpools passing was not good:confused: :o

Liverpool played like they've played all along this season, boring and without creativity, except they weren't lucky today. ;)

Reserve Team
Once again a English team can't keep the ball, long ball crap, Valencia gave them another footballing lesson.

the referring for both the liverpool and arsenal match was a total disgrace... there was tackling flying all around and some of it definitely deserved yellow cards for both ends... the linesman was a disgrace as well, there was one incident in the first half that owen was like a few yards onside and he raise his flag when owen is clear on one on one situation...:f***:

Yes, we are boring. However we have scored the second most goals in the EPL - but of course this is all down to luck. That Canizares made several great stops shows nothing I guess...

grashed - footballing lesson? Did u see the second half of the match? What was Valencia teaching Liverpool - how to constantly clear the ball downfield and waste time?

Anyway, we lost to the Spanish champs 1-0, I'm not happy but it's not a disgrace.

That was a great game.

Valencia really had total control of the match.

In the 2nd half it looked like they were challenging Liverpool to come and break them down and try to score.

I was suprised they even took off Carew so early as he was having such a good game.

From what I've seen, Liverpool weren't outplayed, but they weren't finsihing off the chances they were given/created. I saw Owen miss several very good chances, Gerrard had one, Baros had one.... shame.

i must admit we play like sh!t in the first half.. but we improved a lot in the second half.. i guess most member in this forum only watch the first half... we should at least got a draw out of this match... shame indeed... :(

Liverpool played sh*t the whole game basically, they needed night like against Roma last season but that didnt happen. Although Owen was through and only had to beat Canizares but for some reason was given offside....although to be fair Micheal Owen is sh*t and would have missed anyway :p he missed a sitter in the second half.....oh well we better be Basle :(

That's fine if you want to say he's sh!t, but if he's so crap what does that make 99% of the other strikers out there on the planet? If he's scored against France, Brazil, Argentina and a whole host of other countries what does it make the players that haven't scored against these top teams? If he's scored in two world cups and he's only 22 what does that make RvN who's 26 and never scored in any? How many weaker-footed FA Cup winning goals does RvN have? If Owen is crap, what does that make Ruud? Am I saying Owen is better than RvN? No, I'm just putting some perspective to this 'theory' that Owen is crap, lucky, etc.

I know almost everyone on this board hates Liverpool and it would kill them to give the pool any props whatsoever but to say that Michael Owen is sh!t is just braindead - you're not a football fan, you're a moron, and when I say "you" I don't mean specifically you, Maarten, but in general the geniuses who call him crap every week he doesn't score a hatrick.

No offense, but that's a pretty weak argument. I mean, how many tap-in goals has Owen scored at lunch in an Australian school? None, so does that mean that I'm a better striker than Owen??? (H) :rockman: :crazyboy: :mrpimp:

Damn... dude I was covering myself but still there's the backfire. :D :p. I agree with you though. Owen is class but I think he's overrated which is mainly done by the press (read The Sun) who rate him as God.

Fact: Owen is a very good striker.

Fact: Owen is overrated by the British media, who think the sun shines out of his ass, and that he is the best striker in the world.

You can't measure a striker by who he's scored against, or how many left foot goals he's scored in an FA Cup final. But Owen's got a good strike rate. ps. A hat-trick against Man City doesn't count. My Gran could do that. :D

Oke doke, do you want me then to post his career goalscoring stats? It was just a single example of Owen coming through in a big game - just like his double against Roma, or his hatrick against Germany in Munich, or even his goal for England against Brazil in the WC (after which England then went to sleep and Ronaldinho impressed the ladies by lobbing Seaman from 30 yards.....) - he's already scored more than 100 goals for Liverpool, he's in double digits for his country and he's only 22 and my FA Cup example was just to show he scores in big games too (so a hatrick against Man City who are just back in the EPL does not mean the rest of his 100+ EPL goals were ALL scored against them and therefore do not count).

I agree that Owen is indeed sometimes overrated in the British press (he is not yet on the level of Raul, Shevchenko or Ronaldo)but he also gets the most flak when England do poorly - I remember the barage of sh!t he faced along with Keegan when England lost to Germany 1-0 in the last game at Wembley. And don't forget earlier this season when everyone and their mother was saying Owen had been "found out" - Tony Cascarino chimed in with that nugget, and Howard Wilkinson said Owen shouldn't be selected for England - meanwhile he was leading the EPL in shots on goal.

hei hei.. guys.... something is cooking up in this thread... d@mn.... neutral has said all the things i want to say..........:D

Firstly Valencia are the most professional side in the cup, and aimer is the best player on current form.

Secondly Valencia deserved to win but did not give us a football lesson, although some of theif players gave us a lesson in how to be a cheating/dirty little sh*t including aimer excellently stamping on a player he just fouled.

I cant see many teams beating valencia but I really hope someone does, as no champions should use some of the dirty tricks 3 or 4 of their players used.

did anyone notice they would even allow hyypia to jump in the last 15 mins.

The thing that annoys me the most is Valencia are such a good sid ethey dont need to play like that, the reason we have played so poorly against valencia twice now is no coincidence, valencia's style is to prevent you playing your game while asserting their own, teams like madrid and arsenal just try to over power you with their attack.
