Mourinho's major achievements have come from parking the bus in major tournaments and dominating Serie A when all the best teams were in Serie B.

I think he is no better than van Gaal, Wenger, Rodgers, Pellegrini, or Martinez. In fact, I would put him below van Gaal and Wenger in career achievements, and probably below Rodgers and Martinez in terms of tactical nous. It is easy to park the bus, it is not easy to strive for something higher and succeed.

Unless they spend the Suarez money very wisely I think Liverpool will struggle to grab the fourth CL spot. So far they have not spent wisely, their purchasing strategy seems to be mirroring the disastrous post-Bale purchasing strategy at Tottenham.

Lallana and Lambert are good players but not players who will bring the title to Liverpool. They are not winners. Liverpool should have attempted to sign Sanchez, a game changer.

van Gaal? yeah, they're on par ... Wenger? LOL ...

I like Roberto Mártinez a lot, and I'm partial to Buck Rodgers' American name, but José is on another plane in terms of nous ... Mou's Real Madrid team hold the most number of goals in a single La Liga season, and averaged 61% possession despite tactically allowing concession of the ball when facing Barça -- well, not without trying; that 2011 Supercopa first leg has to be one of the highest quality meaningless club games I've watched ... you are very poorly informed about Mourinho ...

Mourinho has been allowed to outspend every team in every league he's ever managed in. His eventual success has always been inevitable based on that fact alone.

And uh... are you going to tell me that Mourinho's Porto was not a cynical team? They didn't park the bus against Monaco, no, but... against Man U?

Yes, against Man Utd. Or the 2-1 at home doesn't count? I agree that ever since Inter (maybe his last year at Chelsea), he's been getting more and more defensive oriented, but while his teams have always been balanced and not exactly gung-ho, there's NO WAY you can say Porto had a "park the bus" tactic in those 2 years. Defending a result? Everyone does that.

You cant say his real madrid was a defensive team because he parked the bus once against the best Barça...

your broad stroke 'park the bus' criticism has been shown to be ignorance ... now your angle is funding?

yeah, why doesn't he take jobs where they don't give him sacks of cash to spend? why do those bastard rich clubs keep giving him job offers?

Won the league eventually after everyone stopped listening to Pep

I'm saying that Mourinho is a good manager, but no better than the other 5 mentioned. This fits in very nicely with the spending angle, because if you give any of those 5 other managers the jobs and funds that Mourinho had I believe they could have achieved at least similar success. It is not difficult to win domestic leagues when you can outspend everyone 10 to 1.

I can't believe I'm actually arguing against you since I absolutely agree that last year his tactics were horrible (poor quality football PLUS no results, it could have been excused if he had won anything), but I don't agree with you on the rest.

Dude, Mourinho reach the CL semifinal every fucking year with any fucking team he's coaching, too bad he cant surpass it but is still impressive... and please dont tell me its because he is at huge clubs because those teams were shit in europe just before he took charge (Porto didnt exist, Inter were crap, Madrid couldnt surpass round of 16 for 6 years and Xhelsea were playing EL in 2013).

I still think winning the CL with inter was crazy good, he made Sneijder and Milito look like stars

you are undermining him winning the Champions League -- the Treble, to be precise -- in his second season with a new club he had no previous common ground with?
