ok, so what would you do? edit their stats in FMModifier and make them world class? Liverpool had a player. Spurs offered money for him. Liverpool thought it was a reasonable offer. Player is sold. What the hell is the problem with that? He was barely used in that time also, and there were many signs saying he wouldn't be used until the end of the season, when he'd be worth about half the value he was sold for.

If you think Rafa bought him, you're the one confused. The board got him, and that's the reason Rafa hasn't signed a new contract....

It'd take you a while to do that anywhere, it'll take you forever to do that in a Liverpool board.

The guy has taken Liverpool to a CL final twice, even winning a final with a team that had Djimi Traore in it. It took Fergie almost 10 years to do that, and no one can question his quality as a manager. You can criticize Rafa all you want, and even think his transfers are bad, the thing is, he's better than most managers around. Not only is he quite successful with us, his record at Valencia is quite good too.

Keep telling yourself it's all down to luck. Maybe you'll believe it someday.

don't compare base on that, EPL is at its best right now while bundesliga was better than EPL in early 90s

The rest is ****? Have you followed the league? And how many top teams does La Liga have? How many of them could challenge the EPL's top teams? Or how many La Liga's "****" teams could beat EPL's "****" teams?

EPL is the best according to Uefa, and I think people over there who rank leagues know much more than us.

mid table teams in spain are better than mid table teams in england, bottom of the table teams in italy are better than both the other leagues bottom teams, but not italy's top or middle

Add (in home) and it can be really true.

Though, La Liga middle table teams(I mean not 10~20th, they are suck.)are the best. Next is EPL middle table(Everton, West Ham, Aston Villa, Tottenham etc.)and Serie middle table is the worse. We can see their ability on UEFA Cup.

what exactly do you mean? surely Man U has had the same chances to have a go at the CL, with a much better team than Liverpool for the last few years. That no other manager in England managed to take their club to the final twice in 4 years recently is a fact. Man U may well do it this year, but then again, they're so much better than the rest that not even luck will help them, eh? not that you care much about it, since Barca and Juve are still in it too...

Just for the record... how old are you?

the only major trophy that they won in last 20 year was 1 cl we won 10 epl and 2 cl and he is going to prove Benitez is superior to fergi. That's not even funny!!!!

Well, if I may take part in this discussion, I do believe that Fergie is a better manager than Benitez for obvious reasons, though Benitez has also had less time and what he has achieved so far for Valencia and Liverpool has been somewhat impressive.
I find cmc and kp's reasonings very primitive and narrow-minded, if I may say so. Maybe you should both put more thought into your posts since then people will take you more seriously.
Anyway, back to the subject at hand, I wanted to know what you guys all say to the fact that Gillett has apparently said that Benitez has to win the Premiership or he will get the sack.

never said that mate, and Rafa has only been here for 4 years, so don't blame the others on him... other than that, just look at 1966+2006's post...

If I compare Rafa to Fergie is because I respect Fergie enough to take him as a benchmark of a successful manager. That doesn't mean Fergie's never made a mistake in the transfer market.

The only thing I'm discussing here is that Rafa is not a bad manager because Liverpool sold Keane back to Spurs, or because he made some mistakes in the transfer market. We all wish his signings were like Torres, but it doesn't work that way. Sure, looking back now, I wish we could have kept Crouch instead of buying Keane, but Keane could have been just the player to take us to the next level. It's a gamble he had to take. It ended up badly, but no one thought it would be Liverpool who presented the biggest challenge to Man U's title bid, yet here we are.

But I see you didn't answer my question... how old are you?

Personally, I don't think I can see anyone doing better than Rafa at Liverpool. Sure, we have our issues with his team selections, but I still think he's taking us forward. Besides, who'd be available?
